Hi there. I have a working version of a complicated (for me) series/parallel system on my Strat type guitar. I have done a star-grounding process on the thing but I still think it's too noisy.
There are only two things I've thought of that could be at issue: 1). The coils may be a little microphonic. 2). I might have the electrical phasing all messed up.
I don't know if either of these would add to the noise I get- that's why I'm asking before I tinker further. Of course it grounds when I touch the strings and the noise is cancelled, but I think it's still pretty noisy and even seems like it's probably too noisy even when not touching the strings. I plugged another guitar I have- a beater that I made no attempts to shield- and it was definitely quieter. Its pickups have metal covers however.
Help. I really want to sell this guitar, but I can't feel good giving someone a noise problem- I know single coils hum, but I'm just not sure if this is normal. Thanks for any information.
