i have an older hotrails humbucking pickup that i haven't tried in a while, i tried it the other day and got no response from it although i know it is hooked up correctly. I think it has been abused in the past but i can't see any cut wires. I would like to make it work again. can somebody give me some pointers on determining what is wrong. things like hooking it up to a volt meter (specific wires to test and settings on the meter) to see if it is working or to see if there is something wrong.
thanks,
Jeff

hi Jeff,
if it is the neck model, you should have something like 5400 ohms* of resistance between black and white. the same between red and green.
there should be no continuity between the frame of the pickup and any of the wires mentioned above.
* if it is the bridge model, make that about 8450 ohms.
