www.seymourduncan.com/support/wiring-diagrams/schematics.php?schematic=1h_2s_1v_2t_5w_asI am following this schematic for wiring the hot rails in bridge position. The mid and neck are stock single coils (texas specials if im not wrong) Im using a 1994 Japanese strat. If i follow the schematic wholesale, would i get a proper parallel hum-canceling sound in the 4th and 2nd positions of the 5way? THx..I was told that there was a chance that the stock singles were out of phase..So im pretty confused and do not know what to do.I need the guitar by saturday afternoon! Thx in advance for all help!

Yeah, it appears to be shunting one of the coils of the humbucker in the 2 position. So you'll have bridge sc + mid sc. If that doesn't hum cancel than swap the black and green wires coming from the humbucker. This will select the other coil from hb in that position and get you where you want to go.

ash, Not a bad first solution, but there's more to the story. Swapping the two main leads like you suggest will reverse the whole pickup's electrical orientation, with respect to the two single-coil pups. In effect, the 'other' coil is selected, you were correct on that point, but it will now be reverse polarity, giving the same effect as before. Better would be to swap the pair of leads coming from each of two single-coil pups - doing so will allow the same coil of the Hb to be selected in combination with the middle pup. (Presumably the one closest to the bridge.) xypher, you should stick around, there's no need to "post-and-run", we'll still help you when you ask. ;D And welcome to the NutzHouse, even if you are only a guest at the moment. Hey, xypher, welcome to the Nutzhouse! I see you took the plunge and joined up. Fairly painless, eh? Lots of good info and great folks here. I've learned more here in the last year than in the previous 20. Well, at least about guitars...
Anyway, great to have you on board.

Carl, .............. I've learned more here in the last year than in the previous 20. Well, at least about guitars... When you've been here long enough, we'll invite you into our "secret" Inner Circle, and open up the "special members only" sub-forums - that's where you can learn other neat stuff about life, etc.! ;D But you gotta remember to use the Secret Handshake before you can get the Secret Decoder Ring! sumgai

I see that I'll have to try to be careful with what I learn. I know that there are some secrects that are just too powerful for us juniors. You know, like the super classified ones where if you tell me you've got to kill me?
Ok, I'm off to practice the Secret Handshake. Can't wait to get the ring!
