I just found this site its great ;i'v been modding guitars for the past few years , mostly cheap (read inexpensive )flee market rescues , for my own enjoyment . adjusting the necks leveling ,crowning + polishing the frets so they play great replaceing nuts + bridges etc. Now im getting into the electronics and this site has provided a wealth of info. thanks . I,ve allready grounded + insulated My 3 strat clones + my brothers fender with great results .Should I do this to my 59 jazzmaster ? it hums like all hell .will this mod ruin thr vintage value ? Has anyone installed one of the mod boards from guitar fetish ? I,m thinking of loading my hammer strat with some for craps+giggles and want to know if they work before spending the money . ;D

denny, Hi, and welcome to the NutzHouse! ;D Out of everything you asked about above, none of it applied to the forum area where you asked your questions. I've moved this thread to the Electonics and Wiring forum, due to the questions pertaining to hum and a circuit board from GFS. Regarding that board, I can only say that most of us here hold GFS in some respect, they seem to have decent products at fair prices. Several members have used, or are using, their pickups, and they like 'em. A few have bought other parts, but I don't recall if anyone has installed a mod board of theirs, so I can't say if that's a good thing or not. As far as your Jazzmaster goes, you need do only one thing with it..... pack it up well and send it to: sumgai c/o General Delivery Woodinville, WA 98077 Other than that, any Jazzmaster made prior to the CBS era should have a set of brass inserts, one in each cavity, and they should be grounded directly to the jack. Along with the under-pickguard aluminum shield, there should be almost no hum to begin with. The only place remaining that is unshielded are the pickup covers themselves. You can try insulative paint therein, and if it works, great! If it doesn't work, then you can buy replacement covers off of eBay for relatively cheap. Probably wouldn't be a dumb idea to buy a few of these in the first place, and experiment on them instead of your originals. HTH sumgai

Thanks ....Its been a while since I asked about Guitar fetish F I have since purchased many items from them with excellent results They sent me the wrong pick guard once but corrected their mistake quickly Their mod boards all worked well although the chorus I installed on my Jackson bass was a little thin sounding .Sorry about posting in the wrong area . ;D

Dennyb-
Hopefully you won't wait another 367 days (since '08 was leap year) to join us again!
I too am a big fan of GFS.
