Les Paul signed my new guitar Monday night. I was wondering how to forever preserve the Sharpie signature. Perhaps having someone re-varnish the entire top? Anyone have any ideas?

yeah, re-varnish it using a thick acrylic clear coat.

To recoat, wouldn't you have to prep/scuff the surface first? Just a thought.
If it were mine I don't think I would ever take it out of a display case, so I wouldn't be concerned about it becoming damaged

nope. just make sure that there's nothing left in the old coat (dust, wax, oil, etc.. ) I did it to my strat; it also has signatures.. on the pickguard !
