I never tweak my guitar necks. Jobs like that make me nervous so again, I leave it to the pros. My 70's Strat has the micro tilt neck. What happens if I put the little adjuster wrench in there? Does it move the neck up and down slightly?

The micro tilt on fender necks is made to adjust the angle at which the neck leaves the body. It's a common procedure to "shim" necks; put picks or cards or other little bits in the neck pocket to compensate for bow or alter action. The micro tilt just provides a cleaner, built-in method of doing that.

On mine (73 strat) it allows sideways movement! So if the guitar gets the slightest stress, sideways, the thing moved out of line:+( I have it shimmed up so it won't move. I also have it screwed out, so no adjustment made, and things are just right. I must say, I'm a happy bunny as far as it's sound is concerned....(especially as it is now hum and buzzless, thanks to GuitarNuts) :+)

When using ANY of microtilt, remember to loosen the screws on the neck a touch. "Cause if you don't, you strip them, or the micro tilt screw.
