I now know where to get material for a new pickguard. Now...Is there a tool I can use to put a beveled edge on the pickguard? I feel a router would be too harsh and could cause more damage then do good.

actually a router works perfectly. what you need is a bit where there is a bearing or something of the like to stop the bit from going farther than you want it to. something like this librawood.safeshopper.com/21/cat21.htm?299personally the router is my favorite tool. it can do just about anything. however if you dont want to use a router you could use a file and there are probably other ways to do it that i dont know of.

stew mac sells a bevel bit for use on pickguards, but if you don't want to go that route (haha) you should at least check out their page because it lists the angle dimensions that you should follow.

A sharp straight blade can do that pretty well, you've just gotta experiment a little to get the technique the right way. I've done it with great results. (and cheaper than StewMac's stuff )
