Hey! My guitar has some srange buzzing sound on the 1st string (the E4 string) 7th fret, and the open 3rd string (the G string) with distortion sounds horrible. I've tried changing strings, but the problem remained. I've recorded this so you can give your opinion on what might be wrong. Things you'll hear: 1. I play the open B string (with distortion) 2. I play the Harvester of Sorrow riff (with distortion) so you can hear how it sounds in a riff 3. I play the 7th fret (1st string) WITHOUT my amp. I've only used a microphone to record it so you can hear the buzzing better. As for the buzzing on the 7th fret, it sounds much worse when you hear it live (instead of the recording). Here's the link: rapidshare.de/files/20717485/buzzing.mp3.htmlWhat's wrong with my guitar? The frets? The nut? What?

xxx,
welcome to Guitranut2.
i don't think you knew this, but that link you gave just sends people to the rapidshare home page, prompting them to login or become a member.
we can't listen to your recording.
you might need to copy a link from a little window, when you are on the page that shows the files you have uploaded.
your bridge saddle(s) may be too low, your nut slot(s) may be too deep, or you may have a reverse bow in your neck, possibly caused by too much tension on the truss rod.
you might also have one or more frets that are too high, and need leveling.
one last possibility i can think of: one of your pickups might be too high, allowing the strings to hit the pole-pieces.
you might even have more than one of those problems.

What are you talking about? I gave you the link to the file, not the homepage. Here's the link again: rapidshare.de/files/20717485/buzzing.mp3.htmlClick on the "Free" button and you can download it.

my apologies xxx, the link does indeed eventually lead to your file.
it is a somewhat convoluted path.
after i click on the free button, i then get another screen, that requires me to enter the characters i see into a window, then hit another button marked download. finally i get a dialog window from windows that allows me to open or save the file.
this kind of thing really makes me appreciate the way the friendlier file sharing sites like Photobucket do things. too bad they don't do mp3 files.

unk, That's where places like www.filecabin.com come in handy. Although they've screwed up their membership uploading schema, anybody can upload in the anonymous area right from the front page. No registration is necessary, the only "limit" is just one file per operation. Got several files? One at a time, baby, them's the rules. You can do them all, but not en masse, which is (was) possible for registered members. All kinds of file can be held and regurgitated there. I've got HMTL, css and javascript for a photo montage (being shown on another site), several jpg's and gif's, and a few AutoCAD drawings. They accept nearly all manner of audio and video files, or at least the did, last time I checked. Might be worth checking them out. sumgai
