I am restoring a Electra Hollow Body its a ES 335 copy and its either a 2228 or 2229 . My question is if I lay a straight edge on the neck how high off the body app. should I be ?? I am building a new bridge and being this is almost like a acoustic shouldnt the neck be adjusted like one ?? This will help me determine how much wood to take off the bridge I am shaping it to the body shape like on a violin any one done this ??

hi Monradon,
i really don't know.
but, i would guess it would depend on if the bridge height is adjustable, and what the action needs to be.
i'd probably cut a thin block that would hold the end of the straight-edge at the same height as the nut grooves.
and another that would hold the middle at the height to give you the action you want at the 12th fret.
then measure down from the straight-edge to the body where the bridge will sit.
that would be the height of a fixed bridge, or an adjustable at the middle of it's adjustment.
of course when you consider where you are, i'm sure it won't be long 'til you get a better answer.

I don't know if the neck is glued-in or a bolt-on. If the latter, one can always shim either the front or back neck mounting screws to help.
