I am going to put a HSH configuration in my Stray body. I am going to have plit coil switches for the humbuckers, and I want to know what pickups would sound good for this configuration. I want a really good rock sound out of the hb's. I'm a big Zeppellin fan as well as Allman brothers, Creed, and other classic rock sounds. I'm not a big metal guy, but I live some drive. Van Halen sounds are allways great. Here's where the real dilema comes into play: I want something either Strat-like or something unique when I switch to singles. I don't know much about different pickup's sounds or which ones sound good when split, but I'm getting to the point where I'm about to not care anymore and just focus on the rock tones and get what I get out of the split tones. Can anyone give me some pointers on pups to choose? There are so many. One more thing. Should my Middle single be a little hotter than a standard single? There are SD vintage rails, stacked rails, and others.

Mork, How are you gonna put anything into your body if it's gone stray on you?!
;D

Yes. That's a good question. It's definitely a Strat body, and a beautiful one at that. Nan00

Am working on a similar Strat project with the H-S-H config.
Decided to go with Joe Barden pickups, as I didn't like the active EMGs I'd had (just personal opinion, seemed a bit too 'sterile' for my Fender and Marshall). The Barden's are about the quietest passive' pickups I've heard, and their Humbucker's split coil is within pennies of their single coil sound. Pretty efficient too, in dB. They're a bit cleaner than some Duncan I had but I can fix that with the pedals or pre-amp saturation. As always, your mileage may vary. Good Luck!
