Ive got a Strat that Im currently sheilding and rewiring...Im just about done with the sheilding but am now curious about actually sheilding the pups. Ive seen pics somewhere about wrapping the single coils with the same copper foil tape...but I cant seem to find anything worth reading on the subject....some pics would be nice too.
If I do this should I wrap the pickup itself? Or can I just tape the inside of the cover? Do I need to run a lil ground wire jumper soldered to this pup shielding?
Can I sheild the back of the pup plate? Do I need to keep this shield away from the + lead? Once again do I need to ground this?
What, if and how should I go about doing this?

Hello there, from what ive read, it is a very touchy and sensitive job to shield the pups. The 2 wires leads in there are extremly fragile and you can easily kill the pup if your not careful. Most of the posts i read on that mention to try the regular shielding tricks first,(the quieting the beast job posted on this board is awsome and essential for single coil in my opinion). If you still have interfefence problems after that, then it would be the next step, but warning, its a delicate job. I quickly checked my bookmarks but could not find a specific website to give to you, but Ive seen it with pictures to help you on the DIY. Cheers

Yeah, Ive read that they are pretty touchy sensitive...but I have no fear because mine have a nice tight wrapping similar to electrical tape and mine doesnt appear to be as prone to issues like that...and it looks like its gonna be super easy to shield these pups!
Im not really interested in the "hook it up and see where you are at before attempting" advice...I really dont wanna put it together and then take it all apart again to do what I set out to do in the first place.

Okay, so Ive got some good ideas about shielding my pups...but still have a few questions.
I was curious if I should put a layer of copper on the back of the bottom plate...Id put electrical tape over the pole pieces first....but what about the copper?
And what if I didnt ground these pickup sheilds to the pickup lead, but instead to the cavity sheild?
BTW Im not really trying to over do it with the pup sheilding...Im just trying to impove upon them a little.
