I didn't know if this post really belonged in the "pickup" section or not- didn't really seem appropriate for "Electronics and Wiring" either. Ran across this while surfing for parts the other day: www.acmeguitarworks.com/John_Suhr_BPSSC_System_P1216C65.cfmIt's the Suhr "Backplate silent single coil system". Does anyone know how this thing works? Or why it's $259? And, unless there's something patented going on in there, why can't I build one for considerably less than $259?

Im too ADD to read most of that, but does it say how it works?
As I've read just turn this knob here and no hum! But where's the science behind it?

I'm gonna go out on a limb here, and bet that neither of you used the Search function, in the menu bar above...... did you?
Merely look for 'Suhr', and go back about 600 days. Report back here with your results. ;D

hi guys i am new here and maybe gonna get you guys mad at me.I went and got me the SUHR backplate system, and voila best thing I ever done for my sound.I do play manny kinds of music, and the Strat format is one of the best ways to get the great chime, the presence etc...but the noise was crazy. Now i record for manny people who wants to go almost direct to pc,and its is great. No nOise,or about 95% gone.Their Fletcher-Landau pups also sound great.Jeff Beck in his fender uses it,and also surh pups too.I have seen JB live last year, and it for sure was there,to see in the guitar.the white one.
