Who here are pet owners and what do you have? My last pet was a black and white patchwork cat that I rescued from a college buddy's dorm (he couldn't keep her there, no pet policy in the dorms.) My gran takes care of her now, but I miss her! I tought her to: Perch on people's shoulders. Use a human's toilet. (Almost got the flushing part down!) I -DIDN'T- teach her to: Crawl into the back of my open-backed combo amps when I was playing very very loudly. For some reason she did this on her own.

I own a bishon (thats a type of dog) named Merlot and two turtles, Elliot and Porter. I used to have 4 or 5 fish but one was eaten by a squirrel and the rest were eaten by the turtles.

We have two 13 year old tabby cats here in Surrey, England. They are sisters but very different in looks and temperament.
Holly, named after Holly the computer in Red Dwarf (a sci-fi British comedy), is skinny and a real lap cat and loves human company.
Misty, named after “Play Misty for Me by Mrs A who is a Clint Eastwood fan, is a bit tubby and likes to be on her own somewhere dark and quiet.
I only took up electric guitar last year. They both hate it and run and hide when I play. I convince myself it is the pitch and volume they don’t like and not my awful playing. ;D

i have the BEST kind of pet. (just like i have the best kind of boat.)
i have FRIENDS who have pets.
zero maintenance (unless i choose to take them for walks, brush them, etc.) but all the benefits.
true, i don't get to see them, unless i go to them.
but, all in all, it works for me.

We have the same approach to children. We both like children and enjoy their company but we don’t like all the effort and cost involved so we chose not to have any.
Our friends and relatives have plenty of children. We can see children when we want, take our nieces and nephews out for the day etc and then give them back when we are tired and fed up with them. ;D
Being childless by choice is becoming increasingly common which must be ironic to those unlucky people who desperately want children but cannot have them.

And so do I (pets and boats).
My daughter has a pet named the dad unit (who apparently is always good for money).
My son has a pet named the dad unit (who apparently is always good for car inspections).
My wife has a pet named the dad unit (who apparently is always good for funding in general).

By popular demand, here's the followup to the story of Sunshine. The siblings on the bookcase in the quilting room. Sometimes snoozing, sometimes getting into wherever they shouldn't be, they were never far apart. Shadow, in her famous "rub my belly" pose. Thankfully, she shows no signs of ill health, after 3½ years. (Hope these didn't overflow anyone's screen!) sumgai

We have a Golden Retriever, a 13 inch Beagle, and a Black and White cat named Mr. Kitty. Cat is the oldest and pretty much rules the roost. The GR is a good story. A lady at work, her mom had a full blood GR. It got loose in heat, and fooled around the neighbors full blood GR only it wasn't controlled or witnessed. So out pop they great pups and I got it for 25 bucks. A great dog that I would never consider paying $800 for, but she's a great dog.
My Beagle I rescued from a crack house. Crack house is a very long story but anyway these people lived in this house and they had this rabbit beagle and they use to use her rabbit hunting. I mean this dog can really track rabbits. Anyway, they left and abandoned two beagles. I adopted it, took it to the vet got her fixed and got her shots, cute dog. Vet said she had a severe case of heart worms and had 6 months to live on her first vet visit. 18 months later the runt weighs 36 pounds and is officially the GR's pet. They love each other and hang out like best friends. It's great.

That first picture was about 6 months after we got the beagle and they became pals fast. About 3 months later the beagle got hurt, I suspect someone kicked her really hard and she was laid up for about two weeks. During that time she put on a little weight. As you can see below, nothing just slips under her now. The two of them play almost daily and the GR will lay on it's back on the floor and the two just go at it. It's very entertaining.

dunk, Och, laddie, ye've sent the poor wee pixels aflyin' aboot the screen, ye have! Kinna ye nae toorn them down just a wee bit perhaps? And when push finally gets shoved, the screen pixel count is all we have to go on, so it doesn't really matter if you took the pix in 1280x960 or 2540x1920, what we see on the screen will not give us any more detail then your close-up in the first place. Still looks good to my tired ol' eyes. sumgai
