I've been spending a lot of time at my local GC rocking out on a Gibson Les Paul Studio Mahogany through a Fender Blues Junior. This gear will mostly be used for recording/rehearsing with acoustic instruments. Anyone have two (or more) cents on these products? (I already know I'm in love.)

All LP for $500 less, If it's got a good neck, there's not much to debate...get it. Blues Junior....now that's a surprise. It is their most affordable amp with most of the Twin's features. I've played it a couple times, and do like it, but IMO the Vox AD30VT or AD50VT seem so much better a value (and much more feature rich and sound laden), not to mention less coin.

The Blues Jr. is mostly a tube amp (sans the reverb circuit). They're ok (I'm spoiled by the point to point tube stuff). These can be had for about $330 new if you push hard enough. There are many sites with mods for this amp.
However, for $430 I can get a new Epi Blues Custom (2 EL-34s in triode class A cathode bias for 15 Watts, or 30 Watts in pentode class AB? cathode bias). The Epi has 2 12" Eminence speakers (it also weighs 60+ pounds).
The Vox AD30VT and AD50VT are minimally a tube amp (one twin triode is used to create a push-pull stage that is scaled in output power by solid-state stuff). I have the AD50VT, it's a nice amp - I use it as my main footrest in my office, so it's always at hand. It's still primarily a digital modeling amp (the Korg $50 mini amp modeler is its front end). These can be had for about $300 new if you push hard enough.
I also have the Korg unit and use it as my business travel amp with headphones.

heh....what's your business travel guitar Chris? This thread did get me thinking of the guitar I've been gravitating towards/playing with at GC the last couple times there...a Yamaha RGX A2. I've never drop-tuned a guitar as fast as I can an RGX, amazingly stable tuning, and light weight to boot....and BAH!!!! who needs a tone control.

The all-tubeyness of the Blues Jr. is what I'm looking for, as well as something compact (but STILL having a 12" speaker) for recording. I've tried an Epi valve amp and am not so pleased with the breakup sound as I am with the Fender.
I might try it with the Vox, when I go down there today. I've owned the AD50VT before and liked it quite a bit, but that was with a different guitar.
