I play at my Highschool with the band during the football games. They require alot of waiting to play in the cold for a time to play between plays (if that makes sense). anyway, my hands seem to cramp up after a while of this. has anyone had a problem similer to this, and does anyone have any ideas to prevent this problem?
Thanks, -Ajent

Get sturdy mittens for your hands and chemically powered "handwarmers" available at Wal-Mart for around a buck. I used them when I framed houses, they kept my paws nice and toasty. I'm sure they'd help keep those hands ready for their musical duties.

hey I used to have this problem in drumline. the gloves and hand warmers are a definite must. also, warm up constantly. just keep playing, scales, chords, whatever, if you can't have your instrument with you, keep your hands and arms moving; football games should be a good opportunity to yell, clap, wave your arms and get excited, keeping your body temperature up. me and my friends would have little fist fights, drum on our legs, and of course hot chocolate is always nice.
