So i'm shoveling the driveway and all of a sudden it hits me , considering the fact that most people out there have a broadband server for the internet, it would not be too difficult to setup a live jam on this website, the technology exists now sinse at least 10 years. In that time, it was completely marginal, but today, were all able to join in! Sooo, I'm thinking about a certain schedule where we could sign in for a limited # of players at a time, at a specific hour. Maybe also with a specific style or Group, say "Pink Floyd night" or " tonight, blues jams is A minor", whatever. Here we are trying to put into words feelings, vibes, sounds, ect... jeese there is got to be another way to communicate between birds of the same feathers, than to try to explain how good the grain is in the neighbors birdfeeder! I don't mind spending a bit of time to set this up, I will be searching for some shareware to do this, for sure its available. If anybody knows about maybe a shareware or other software available that would be great! Mac/PC dual platform please,(I'm a mac guy), whoooa, hold the Mac flames please ;D. That could also be awsome to hear the different mods we make on the gear! think about it!!

Sounds like great fun! Although I would have to master the art of playing each note shorty before it should be, due to the poor sound card in my laptop!

So lets Jam and quit talkin!... So like Jimi Hendrix used to say, " man so this was meant to be"!! My subconcious is talkin . I did not have time to check for software yet, will check this out tonight. As far as not having 1/4 inch inputs on the computer,... if you have a 1/8 inch input, then there are adaptors made especially for guitars, check this www.griffintechnology.com/products/garagebandcables/As for the delay on your audiocard, that is a basic function (buffer/ delay) in those types of software, the "live" term is somewhat false as all participants send thier signals with different delays and there are provisions for that. One of the question marks I have is if this crucial function is good on the cheapest versions of this technology. 10 years ago, you absolutley needed a ISDN or fibre optic setup because of the compression algorythms were not where they are today and you only had the "mostly uncompressed" signals needing alot of bandwith if you wanted to be professional. So I think the key to this would be in finding a cheap software version that works on both Mac and PC and has good algorythms and buffers. Also, forget trying this on anything else than cable internet. Im not shure if the fast telephone type lines would work, there is something about the encoding that interferes with this technology. Mind you, the experience I have with this is a bit dated, and there might be more options now! Later Quick update....heres one, havent checked the details yet, but its dual platform www.ejamming.com/?home_indexOr this: www.t-u-b-e.de/tubeplug/tubeplug_tutorial.pdf
