I need some opinions... I got my 1957 pickguard for the SRV strat. Black/White/Black. It took a while, but I picked it up on Saturday. Now I kind of want to keep the "SRV" pickguard! My fellow fret-heads...do you think its cheesy having that p/g? Will people being expecting to hear Stevie when I play? Will folks think I think I sound like Stevie? Let me put it this way... If you were to walk into your local blues club and the guitar player had an SRV strat with that huge "SRV" on the p/g...would you roll your eyes and say " Ya right!" Because without those 3 letters, youd think it was just another Stratocaster. Ya, I know his signature is on the headstock but you cant see that from a distance. If you had one....would you change the pickguard? Sumgai...be gentle with this one okay? ;D

If you had one....would you change the pickguard? If it was me, I would leave it original on the basis that only those who really know what the original looks like can really appreciate the original. But that's just me. Dan

I'm kinda thinkin' that the SRV guard would be giving anyone who sees you play it a high standard of expectation in your abilities...
If you've already got the replacement it should only be a few minutes extra work when you change strings.
...but shouldn't you wait until your meet with the Fender rep to see if you're getting a replacement.

ux4484... Thanks for your input! Its not a question of me getting another SRV, its when. When my music store called Fender, there were no SRV's at the warehouse. So I assume they are making more and will send one as soon as they are available. I was told 1 month, so I guess in about 3 weeks ill have one. I know, im a sucker for even conducting bussiness with Fender after all of this, but I cant help it, I really like the guitar and ill give them a second chance. The Fender rep will be told all. Hell be shown copies of all of the e-mails that were sent back & forth. I just dont want this to happen again to anyone. Maybe this will help smarten those lads up. I dont want anything from them, I just want my guitar to be mint when I receive it in a few weeks, and let them know that their customer service SUCKS! .....Im in my happy place now!

Personally....instead of going for a new SRV, I'd ask for a few hundred back on the purchase. For $300 back in my pocket, I could live with the "shortcomings" you've found on your Strat.

My friend has an SRV strat. People make fun of him for playing metal on it but his solos on that guitar sound amazing. Plus its just a beast. The SRV is one of my personal favorites.
