Last night I was looking through my c.d. collection that I have accumulated over the past 25 years or so... Its funny how our tastes change. I had alot of metal, ie. Judas Priest, Ozzy etc. Some Rush ( which I still enjoy ) old standards like Steve Miller, Zeppelin....and dont spread this around; ABBA!
Now that im in my early 40's its all about the blues. I do still Love the Beatles, thats a given, but nine times out of ten when its my turn to choose the music aroud here its some good ol' guitar based blues. ie. Howlin wolf, SRV, Muddy Waters etc. I guess we do mellow with age huh? Dare I say like a fine wine?
Anyone else out there as laid back as me? ha ha! ;D

Don't worry, we won't tell anyone about ABBA. Yup, I'm totally with you on the changing of tastes. Last night I had the overdrive "on", but the volume set really LOW! and was playing the intro bit to Def Leppard's "Photograph" (at least I think that was the song I attempted to play ...) as well as the riff from Aerosmith's "Sweet Emotion". Reminiscing, I guess? I can't play either worth a darn, but it's funny that it was a throwback to what I used to listen to, rather than what I actually listen to know ... all "soft" stuff. Any songs I write now are usually intended to be played on acoustic guitar. Heh, I used to put the ghetto blaster right next to my bed with the volume WAY up and listen to whatever it was I listened to then ... I don't even have the cassettes anymore to remember. I'm 39 now ... times change, indeed ... and I would NEVER go back! Dan

I always find myself going back to songs I meant to play but didn't have the time....I was on a Ziggy Stardust Jag a month ago (I'm sure the neighbors were sick of it), and on our trip last weekend the Mrs. popped in "The Best of Graham Parker" CD, and now I'm on a Graham Parker jag... I'm kinda at the point I'd like to have a couple guys to jam with, not for gigs or money, just to hang out and play once and a while. My Mrs. is great, but I don't think she'd be too wild about it.

i suppose, i am still to young to feel this mellowing. when i was about 15-16 i listened to queen, chris de burgh (don't laugh, he's got a good voice), kate bush, loreena mckennitt.
now, 10 years older, while i still like it all, my main music has become definitely harder and more aggressive: porcupine tree, riverside, red sparowes. guess i have grown up a much bitter person, instead of a much better one.

That's a great line.... But remember, bitterness only affects the bitter.....

That's a great line.... But remember, bitterness only affects the bitter.....unless of course, the bitterness is in the butter. then it will affect the batter.

And if one bites into the biscuits of the badly bitter butter-batter, an imbibement of a bicarbonate beverage is beneficial to becoming better.
Try saying that quickly five times.
