spend the money on the amp. if they play too easy, aint no soul involved. its like this fricking typewriter. if you want an identity you gotta have some resistance there some place,you dont get somethin for nothin as they say, but this is of course relative to your strength. you can make any of them play good. of course just my opinion.

I remember when those Peavey guitars came out. Most of the music magazines that did gear reviews (e.g. GP, Musician, etc.) commented that they were well-built instruments. The funny thing is that their reluctance to say so was patently obvious by the tone of the reviews.
Same story with Peavey amps, by the way. They were sneered at by the "boutique" set, but the guys on the ground who just wanted a reliable piece of gear without having to hock their mothers (myself included) were grateful.
