anyone kno much about sound systems in a car? i got a digital capacitor and am wondering exactly how to hook it up....it has like two terminals on the top...so would i just hook that up to the battery? then off those same terminals run wires to the power amp too? any help is much appreciated.

aod, DIGITAL capacitor? WTH is that?? Looks to me like you've been shopping for bridges again, haven't you? No, wait............ Ah yes, Google Knows All, and Tells All. ;D Do what I just did, and google for these terms: "digital capacitor" "car stereo", and you'll have your answer. After reading the first few resulting pages, I'm inclined to believe that there is a lot of demand out there for the London Bridge! HTH sumgai

If they use electricity, yes. Did it come with instructions? Be sure to mind the polarity. Plus to plus (+), minus to minus (-). Be sure to mind the polarity. Plus to plus (+), minus to minus (-). Do you have any instructions for it? You might want to consider using wiring that tends toward the larger gauges...... Hmmm, I see (said the blind man as he grabbed his hammer and saw). The origin of the digital capacitor. The capacitor was probably invented by Leyden (of Leyden jar fame) some centuries ago. It is a device that stores a charge. (The term "battery" originated from Ben Franklin who used it to describe an array of such charge storage devices positioned similar to a battery of artillery.) A "digital capacitor" is a modern convenient compression of the actual name for a large value (ie. Farad'ish) quantum capacitor with an embedded digital (as in multi-LED or display) capacitor voltage monitor. www.shopping.com/xPO-Power_Acoustik_4_0_Farad_Digital_Power_CapacitorThese are used for power amp supply rail stiffening as local bulk charge storage devices since the electrical power supply in an automobile was never intended to supply 12 VDC (in your dreams) at 100+ Amps (also in your dreams). (I had feared that since these are round, shiny chrome plated, and stiff that................) The LEDs (usually in ice cool true blue) flash wildly aboot indicating to those unfortunately interred within the trunk of a vehicle that very loud, somewhat harmonically related sound waves are being generated (WHAT?). Unless these LEDs are very very bright, those located external to the trunk will have to find other means to determine the presence of such waves. Perhaps the underbody neon lighting will guide them towards the discovery thereof Yep, way too many words.

speaking of cars. you can congratulate me, i had my first ever rear end collision. the funny thing is, i have borrowed the car from my parents, for only two weeks, which are over on this saturday - i normally use the public transportation. this sucks. wet roads suck.
my only hope is that the damage of the "enemy" car is light, the owner of it is fair and i'll have to pay less than €500. then again the owner works at the german equivalent of irs.

You could offer him a couple of digital capacitors as compensation......

now that is an interesting idea ;D
that really helped, thanks!

Congratulations Dunk!
Accidents are bound to happen though buddy. They suck when you gotta pay money though.

might sell a couple of guitars just as well.

dunkelfalke: the car has no insurance, huh ..?
angelofdeath: in case you don't understand what Chris was saying, your "digital capacitor" is supposed to be in the middle of the power amp's power supply line.

Well, while it's located betwixt the battery and power amp, it should be as close to the power amp terminals as possible for best local bulk charge storage effect.
OK, we've discerned the "Digital Capacitor", any questions regarding "Analog Switches"?

I think that I heard a digital capacitor in action yesterday. I was listening to rap music; it wasn't by choice, it was coming from a car 4 miles away.

That reminds me of a funny story!
I was delivering a pizza to a "security guard," and I accidentally left the stereo on "11" it was pumping out SRV like no tomorrow!!
The guard goes like, "you like that rap crap?"
I'm like, "Err....that's live Voodoo Chile by SRV, man."
He was just hearing Tommy Shannon going nutz, courtesy of the 1986 Chevy Celebrity stock speakers~
Hehe, we got talkin' and stuff, the guy actually had a Washburn acoustic he played while not "working."
My boss called my cell phone like 1/2 hour later, she was like, "WTF!!"
haha, good times!
