We often talk about which guitarists are under or over-rated. But which members of this forum are under-rated? (using karma as the rating) Incidentally, I am not trying to start a love-fest here, so please don't throw karma around indiscriminately ... but it certainly wouldn't hurt to show a little appreciation where warranted. From what I can see, the members here who have the most karma points seem to have earned them as a result of, mainly, their electronics and wiring related posts ... and so they should, as that is mainly what this forum is all about. Thank goodness we have these guys! But not all members are created equal when it comes to electronics (I know I am not). The one area of this forum that actually (and consistently) pulls in the most "posts per thread" is the coffee shop. Apparently, we also like to chat! And there is one member who consistently gets things started there. This one member has started approximately 20% of all of the threads in the coffee shop. Think about that ... He has given a lot of meat for this forum to chew on, yet has, in my opinion, received less "official" appreciation (karma) than he deserves. +1 to you deepblue. Keep up the good work. Dan P.S. VonFrenchie comes to mind as well ... any other unsung heroes out there?

dd842... I dont know what to say!...Thank you so much for those kind words. This forum is amazing. Guys like Unk, Sumgai to name only a few, have knowledge about guitars and amps that actually boggle the mind. The electronic workings of pickups and amplifiers, what works...what wont work etc. We do not know what these gentleman look like, one even chooses to wear a bag! hehe! What we do know is that guitars and their workings is one of their passions. So when a question is posted here and they take the time to answer...you pay attention. Trust me, I have been to other guitar message boards. The language, the comments, I feel as though im with a bunch of 14 year olds with far too much testosterone. GN2 on the other hand is like a gentlemans club. Pull up a chair and listen to experienced people chat about the ins and out of the guitar world. As for me?...I know my place here. Most of my posts are responses. Little comments, and sometimes I try, TRY to be funny!...I know it dosnt always work. I guess im on the lighter side of GN2. Ill never start a post about how to rewire a Fender Bassman...Sorry, I dont know. Ask me what Hollywood starlet id love to take on tour with me?...Ya, right....as if! Thanks again dd!

Incidentally, I am not trying to start a love-fest here... Why not? >_> <_< Sure JohnH has lots of Karma points. He has taken vast amounts of time to create excellent drawings of custom wiring layouts. By that yardstick ChrisK is under-appreciated. He only has 16 17 points. (hmmm, how did just that happen? ) But guys like Dunkelfalke and MinistratMaine have been very helpful in poining people in the right direction for help. And that da mn Texan. Runewalker. Where the hell has he been hiding lately? There was a member who seemed like he would be the heir-apparrent in wiring, but he doesn't stop by much anymore (Fobits) his karma / post was very high. Wolf has gotten a bit of love lately, but that barely makes up for all the times he hasn't gotten his due. dd842, DeepBlue, darKnight, ccoleman, vonFrenchie, spitfire23bc, michaelcbell and hammeroff have all been good contributors lately. There are others, too. But those are the guys I've most noticed. Just because I haven't mentioned someone's name, doesn't mean I haven't noticed their contributions. Sumgai? Well, everyone seems to like to kiss up to the boss, so his numbers are a bit high. Then again, there is quite a bit of unseen work keeping this magilla running, so I guess the numbers are right after all. As for me, I don't give two hoots and a holler about numbers. I haven't been around much lately, but I do what I can. And I'll always be available for defense against the next potato invasion, too! I love you too .... but you're still not getting my Bud Lite. (note: real men don't drink lite beer.) No love fest my a$$! I don't shive a git how this started. I'm gonna make sure it ends up as one.

..... good contributors lately. Contributions are what I hope to encourage, with a little appreciation. "Lately" ... well, as you have seen in the past, contributions can fall off without some love, IMPO. I believe you. When karma and smite were introduced, you predicted that your honesty would put your karma in a deficit position! ... what a nice bunch we are! ;D ... lite beer is like making love in a canoe ... "If loving you is wrong, I don't want to be right!" LOL Dan

I see someone has given me a karma point. My objective here was to show some appreciation for all of deepblue's efforts, and to encourage others to think about whether there is anyone out there who is genuinely underappreciated. I was certainly not looking for karma out of this ... hell, I can't explain why I have what I have now ... Whoever did that - thank you for your thoughtfulness, I genuinely appreciate it ... but ... in this case, I believe it kinda/sorta dilutes deep's moment. You know what I mean? So I won't be the least bit offended when you take it back. Thanks, Dan P.S. I am not trying to offend you - but if I did ... would you [glow=red,2,300]channel your anger and [smite] me [/glow]... just this one time?

Dan, it wasn't me. I used my karma on somebody else.
I'd help you out and smite you, but that's another thing real men don't do.
They NEVER use the smite button. Not even in the face of potato invasions.
It might not have even been someone who posted on this thread.
It might have been one of the many people you helped that finally remembered they should have given you one.
That's the nice thing about karma. It's anonymous.

Dan, it wasn't me. I used my karma on somebody else. WHAT?! This is an outrage on GN2! I have noticed that, and it really does speak volumes about the folk that frequent this forum. [smite] is a slippery slope, isn't it? Well ... maybe. It's still not what my intent was. I'm just going to bashfully say thank you and then shut my trap Thank you Dan

Karma was a new one for me here as well, I accidentally smote someone once (damn laptop touchpad) early on but I quickly thereafter Exalted them back to their previous Karma.
As Chris would say: "Karma IS"

Thank you for the official recognition of "Unsung Hero" status.
I might as well make my selection - how about RandomHero? He set most of this up after those juvenile bozos vandalized the GN1 message board. I know he has gone into a semi-retirement from this board but he deserves some recognition.

sumgai, where i'm from "gentlemen's club" means topless bar. wolf, I think that's a great choice. Not only did he, as a high school kid, build a new home for the forum, but he did a great job of setting the tone. There was both youthful exuberance and an obvious respect for others.

dd ... I have taken back the kudos as per your request. Im sure youll get it back in the future! Thanks again buddy! I know none of us like to hit the [smite] button, so that was honorable of you to do what obviously goes against your first inclination. In this particular case, real men do [smite]. Thanks for respecting my wish, deep. And thanks for your vote of confidence for the future, too. Dan

dd.. Yep, things dont look good for Ottawa! Their Canadians will beat OUR Canadians! *sniff* Let's try to put a positive spin on it ... the Ducks have MORE Canadians than the Sens, which is why they are winning ... ... nope, that doesn't help to ease the pain ... Dan

All,
If you all wanna have fun and games with Karma buttons, far be it from me to spoil the good times. But IMNSHO, the only good candidate I've ever seen for the Smite button was rather crunchy, and had the smell of raw Earth upon him. Somehow, I don't think that any of you are in the same book as that yo-yo, let alone on on the same page.
In a nutshell, Karma should be used wisely. But the definition of "wise" is up to you. ;D

[ Unofficilal Policy Statement] Real men don't use the smite button even in response to those who suffer from too much "fertilizer". They don't hesitate to inform the sufferer of their affliction, either. [/ Unofficilal Policy Statement]

Hi all, I just want to weigh in and say thanks for all you guys. I'm too old and grumpy to fool around with people that aren't serious, and this board is serious (and fun, and funny). Anyway, thanks for helping out all of us with limited knowlege. Since I usually log on at work, I don't sign in unless I'm going to post, but I do try to read the posts and learn something every day. This is a great place to come and learn without wading through silly postings of those who have no real expertise OR humility. Keep up the good work, and God bless you all.
Carl

Thanks and Kudos to all - It's been (and continues to be) a great experience here (even if I'm daily tempted to spend inordinate amounts of $$ on parts, oh, and guitars to put said parts in).
