.......the question. ;D I haven't posted here in a long time but I'm sure this will be one of many new post to come so here we go. I found it interesting that annually, somewhere out in music media land, someone always ranks the Stratocaster as"the best guitar" or the "best guitar value" or "the holy grail of...." etc. I love the Strat. Never owned one until 1999. ( Owned SG's and Les Pauls) but that slinky feeling grows on you and the thing is so versatile. (I love that "quack") Can't find it on any other style of guitar. Now for my question. I'm wondering am I loosing it or maybe have too much time on my hands but.............. Do you feel that aesthetically, a Strat just isn't a Strat without the Trem Arm (kickstand) attached. I very rarely ever use my tremolo but I always attach the arm. Without it, it kind of feels incomplete; like a Hooter's girl without "hooters" (if you know what I mean). Anybody else feel like from a "looks" perspective that the Strat looks less of a Srat without the trem arm? Hardtail Strats always kind of affect me like the proverbiale "red haired step-child. They look almost like some bootleg piece without the backplate on it. This is almost like the ancient discussion that starts out like "a maple/maple neck makes the best strat compared to a rosewood board kind of thing, doesn't it? PS. Please check out the sounds of Musically Mr M at www.soundclick.com/musicallymrm You can hear some great music and lots of examples of my different guitars. (My old Peaveys-my Milestone and T-15 are my consumate tone monsters) Go there and "Listen To The Music" Let me know what you think.

Answer: Yes and No ... I am not used to having a trem arm, but I know what you mean. And I am quite sure that, if I was used to it, I couldn't live without it. Now, on to more important things ... Sir, your music rocks! I didn't listen to every song, but ... "Damn Right!" I like "Damn Wrong!" ... and "Openin' Dialogue" (acoustic) is great ... You do it all ... and I was very interested in your Peavey T-15 demo, as it is the favorite guitar of one of our members (bigaldo - you got your ears on?). Welcome to the forums, buddy! Dan

Hey Music, and welcome!
I too, am a "Stratoholic"
I agree with you. A strat isnt a Strat without that horrid little troublemaker THE WHAMMY BAR! It doesnt matter what you do, or how gentle you treat it, it never holds true in the pocket for very long.
GN2 has many forums tackling this problem, and I think we all agree they are designed not to work well for long. But why do we love them so? I just think it looks cool!...If I need a slight warble while playing I use the meat of my hand and rock the bridge a tad. Im not going to dive bomb or pull up, so I stay in tune most of the time.
My SRV Strat has a left handed trem system and that IMHO works much better, so I tend to use the stick more then rest my hand on the bridge.
In short.... I NEEDS MA STICK!!!
btw...My daughter is a redhead ( Strawberry blond ) I wont let her read this, itll give her a complex! *wink*

:)Thanks Dan and Deep Blue for the listen and reading the post. Since this is kind of a get acquainted post for me, I thought I'd share a little more. I have most of my gear posted up at www.picturetrail.com/archiennc. I am a gearhead (I admit it) an I invite you guys to check out the eye candy. Didn't post too many mega-dollar moo moos on here. (Do own a McInTurff but it don't get out much) This is my collection of "real World" pieces so check 'em out. Click on the link and then look in the albums "Instruments Of Creation" 1 & 2. I think there are some cool guitars there-you be the judge.

So once again I'm the oddball, this time thanks to musicallymrm. Thanks buddy, and a big Welcome to the forums to you too! (Although you've been a member for more than a year!) ;D I "float" my Strat's bridge plate. The arm is like the volume pot in its standard location - always in the bleedin' way! So after tossing out the furshlugginer arm, I simply jacked up the bridge by loosening the springs underneath, adjusted the neck accordingly, and I'm off to the races. I can dive, I can fly, I can do it all, and with no more than the itty-bitty heel of the palm of my right hand. With a set of Dean Markley Blue Steel 10-46's, I can lower the low E string down a 5th, and raise it more than a 3rd. The high E string ranges only down a 3rd and up a minor 3rd, but coupled with a left-handed string bend, that can go up to nearly a flatted 5th! And talk about expressive vibrato~~~~~~~~ hehehehe. ;D No kickstand for this Broomstick Cowboy! sumgai
