....... and show a smilie!!! ;D Big or small, common or odd, useful or silly, it doesn't matter - post your smilies for all to see and steal. I've built a small library of them over the last decade or two, and it's time to both expand and share. Yes, I do have an ulterior motive in mind, hehehe. There's a new version of ProBoards Forum software coming, and the rumor is, Forum Administrators will have greatly expanded powers to change the appearance of just about everything, to add new stuff or whatever, yadda yadda, blah blah, woof woof (1), etc. We seem to use smilies quite a bit around here, so I want to blow the smilie collection way out of proportion. Post 'em in this thread/topic, and I'll put them under protective custody before some bastid comes along and steals them!! Come on, let's give it up for the Gipper! (Posting links to webpages or whole sites full of smilies is OK, but they need to be totally free - some websites are in the business of selling smilies, and I don't wanna step on any toes, I'm sure you'll agree.) To get the ball rolling, I'm throwing out the UnklMickey Memorial "rollie" smilie, the little guy who's rolling on the floor from too much humor! Stay tuned, boys and girls.............. sumgai 1. Bonus points if you know exactly where that came from! And no, don't you dare post the rest of the full quote!!

lpf, What are you missing? Uhhhh, lessee, how do I say this diplomatically? One: Linking to an image:a) Plop down the link (either type it out, or paste it in, after copying it from elsewhere); b) Highlight it (using the mouse to run over with the left-button down, that will "select" the text); c) Hit the fourth button from the left in the lower row of "Add Tags:". That series of actions will surround the selected text (or the highlighted text, if you prefer) with the proper image tags. Hit the Preview button, and check your work, you should see what you expect to see. Two: Linking to a web site or webpage:Do the same as above, but instead of the image tags (fourth button), you hit the URL button, which is the third* one from the left. In both cases, note that you don't use any additional raw HTML coding, IOW, no <a href or anything like that. All you want is the link itself, starting with the initial http:// and through to the ending file extension. That last bit is important. If the file is an image, it will probably end with ".jpg" or ".gif" or possibly ".png", and there are others. Surround these links with an image tag, and they'll show up directly within your post. If the file is not an image, the extension will be something like ".htm", ".html" or ".jsp", ".asp", or others of that ilk. Surround these links with the URL tag. They become a different color, probably with an underline (for some browsers), and may or may not break across a line on the viewers screen. They will usually work, but there are times...... See this post if you're having problems with URL tags/links: Posting A Churlish LinkAfter you've digested all this (and after your Alka Seltzer has settled your tummy), go back and edit your post accordingly. HTH sumgai *( Edited to reflect the new position of the URL icon, it's no longer the second one from the left, in the lower row.... which I had typed in from long habit. )

lpf, Smiley Central, you say? That would look like this, when you type it it (or paste it in): [a href="www.smileycentral.com"]www.smileycentral.com[/a] Note also that you don't have to use the URL tags if you include the HTTP:// front part, the forum will automatically make it a link. The Downside:Notice that I don't show how it would look in its final form.......... smileycentral has a reputation for hiding malware in their so-called "goodies". Whether that's still true or not today, that's up to someone else to discover - I ain't no guinea pig! But in my book, one "aw crap" resets all "attaboys", and a lot of people I trust are gonna have to give me a real hard sell before I try anything like that again. The Upside:You did try, which at least validates my request in some small measure - thank you! (I did receive some PM's though, but nothing shared, just some notes.) I'm not fussy, but I'm trying to build a library of either very common or very unusual emoticons, or smilies (or smileys, as some would have it). If anyone visits other forums where they have other smilies, would you please "borrow" them, and then turn 'em loose over here? There are two ways you can do this: 1) Simply right-click on said emoticon, choose "Save As.....", and store it on your local 'puter. Then re-post it back out to your Photo Image server, and link to it here, as an image; or 2) Really simply, right-click the smilie, choose Properties, then copy down the URL (or copy it by highlighting it, as shown above). Type/paste that URL into a message in this thread, surround it with image tags, and....... We're all set! ;D Thanks. sumgai
