The easiest mod I know is to replace a 500k pot with a 1000k, or remove a knob/switch and replace with a temp off button, so when you tap the button the sound cuts out. Combining this with an extremely high output bridge pickup allows for some strange licks, just lookup buckethead and have a look. THATS IT. My easiest basic mods.
Please reply with the easiest mod you know of. It could be as easy as a few sentences or even a link to another super easy beginner mod already on the forum. Thanks.

einstein, Hi, and welcome to the Forums What you've done is start a discussion on easy mods, which is not, strictly speaking, an Electronics or Wiring question, nor is it a newly designed wiring scheme. That's why I moved it here, to the Coffee Shop. Other than that, all is well in the NutzHouse! Carry on! sumgai

Easiest mod I know of is to change the strings! ;D I usually use Ernie Ball Regular Slinky... I tend to break the high E string if I use Super Slinky. No special reason why I choose EBs. Just like 'em, and they're readily available.

I agree, strings are the first thing that go on anything I buy new or used. If its a tough axe I slap some wyldes on there or fat slinkys or whatever they call having massive bass strings for the top three and then tiny strings for the bottom three. Another funny thing I did was buy a set of electric 12 strings and put one set on one guitar and the thinner set on another guitar, so in other words all the strings on one were the usual 45-10 but the other guitar got the tiny strings for all 6! It sounds amazing and silly but if you have a spare guitar sitting around why not! not to mention it goes great when played along with a bassy-ish guitar. Anyways thanks for the reply and the "____---->move to this forum topic. Mods and links to mods I thought would be best in wiring since thats what it is, but I guess ill sit in the coffee shop and have a donut... Ciao, Stein

What are you dealing with on your guitar in the way of pickups, controls, and layout? That can make a big difference in what is easy and what isn't.
If you're just looking for a little tone tweak, experiment with strings like echo and einstein reccomended. It's cheap(er) and you might be surprised. I use Elixers on my Tele and Markley Blue Steel LTHB's on my PRS. The Strat copy gets Fender Super Bullets. The Elixers sound good on the PRS too, but they definitely have a different tone. Happy tone hunting.

On a Tele changing a MIM modern bridge and replacing it with a vintage ashtray style with brass saddles is pretty easy.
