Hi, could someone please draw/make or what you call it in english, me the schematic , of a Ibanez s320wk, i want to modify it, but i need to know how the sounds work, and the only thing i found was a wiring diagram, and that didn't tell me much about how the sounds work, i'm not sure how to explain this in english, i dont just want to see where to connect the wires, i want to be able to see where the electricity goes, i would very much apreciate some help

jealei, Welcome a'board. I am quite pleased to have folks ask for a schematic while having a wiring diagram. Many are not able to "speak" schematic. This indicates to me that you do. You indicate that the wiring diagram didn't tell you much about "how the sounds work". What does this mean specifically? Are you asking how the switching works? Both neck coils in series 2. Both neck coils in parallel 3. Both neck coils in series, in parallel with, both bridge coils in series 4. Neck inner coil in series with bridge inner coil 5. Both bridge coils in series The pickup coils are electromagnetic generators. They generate an instantaneous voltage relative to the rate of movement of the disruption of the magnetic field by the strings. This is an AC voltage. The coils selected by the lever switch generate this voltage which goes to the tone control which is a capacitor in series with an adjustable two-terminal resistor to signal ground. This variably attenuates the higher frequencies more than the low frequencies. This signal voltage also goes to the volume potentiometer where a three-terminal ratio-metric division of the signal occurs. The wiper terminal goes to the output jack signal and to the amp. Along with the switch details and the wiring diagram, I've completely described how this works. If you understand this description, you would understand how to draw the schematic yourself. If you don't, would a schematic actually help? I guess that I'm asking how to focus the explanation that you want. What is you level of understanding electronics theory. I can describe this from a basic electronics level up to quantum electrodynamics. I suspect that it's somewhere in between.

hi, i'm not sure how to explain, but i find it easier to read a schematic than a wiring diagram, so i would be very glad if someone could post a schematic of that wiring diagram.
my knowlege in electronics is very little, i can read and understand a schematic. that is about it

tedfixxHmmm, well, I don't have a schematic of this. To draw and post one will likely take up to an hour. I'd rather that you used the info that I posted and draw one yourself. im sorry. but it's kind of pointless to post how a regular import fender 5 way work, when ibanez use their own swicthy thingy, but if you could oost the information i would be gratefull

When I were new here I was Greeted with "Is it OK if I pee in your serial now" When I posted one of my designs. (A lot of shunting and hanging hot there) After Jealei posted the same comment here I realized that it was Sumgai and not ChrisK who gave me this lesson in "how to behave on the guitarnuts forum".
But I Do know how this switch works. It does not have a common tag and there is relay no logic in how it works. This is how the tags is connected in the 5 positions on the switch.
The 0 are not connected to anting. All X' are connected together and all Z's are connected. (On the same line/position on the switch.) Ex: pos 1 on the switch connects tag 5 and 8. Actually, I'm not sure if pos 1 is neck or bridge. .........Tags .........1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 Pos 1.......0 0 0 0 X 0 0 X 2.......Z 0 Z Z X 0 X X 3.......Z Z 0 0 X X 0 X 4.......Z 0 Z 0 X X X 0 5.......Z Z 0 0 X X 0 0
It has it's sides to be a laaarge company who can produce their own switches.

The pin numbering is arbitrary since I can see no markings on the switch. A schematic will be difficult as the switch needs to be represented as a matrix or logic table. Yes, it would be pointless to post information for the wrong switch, if one knew at the time that it was the wrong switch. However, when the first post appeared asking for a schematic for a particular Ibanez guitar, I took the approach to see if I could get you to do some preliminary work if possible. I posted some general info to see if that would enable you to understand things better. The Ibanez s320wk is not a guitar that I was familiar with. I currently own only one Ibanez, a 520 Ghost Rider. I don't particularly follow Ibanez guitars, and as a result don't pay much (any) attention to them. The board members generally do not go off on a long research trail to collect all of the info needed to completely answer the request, especially if the request involves a lot of work, discovery, and/or ambiguity. I’ve gone in the past to the Ibanez site and looked under "Support/wiring diagrams", but it appears to not it work (no drawing files are shown). One can also look under "Parts" to find the part numbers for things. Looking at this guitar in particular indicates that the 3PS1SC5 selector switch is used. Since I did not know the logic for this switch, I started searching on the web. I'd found a link that indicated the logic. I verified the logic against the wiring diagram and the pickup combinations stated. This is what I found. Then the whole "peeing" incident started......(taken in context, peeing in someone's "serial" as a comment related to anomalies with a series wiring structure IS funny, but only in context and likely only in the U.S.). I’d perceived that you original request was for a simple drawing that one should be able to discover themselves, especially if standard parts had been in use, and they could already read schematics. Please don't "pee in my serial" at least until we get to know each other better. ;D ;D ...and, welcome back, semisolid.

so i bought some new pu's froms guitarfetish.com, when i realised that to try to soldier this with that wiring diagram is hopeless, the colour code is different, and the diagram does not show which side of the pickup is positive or negative.
but if i change the switch to a standard import 5 way (3 way with shorting) could you write me a schematic to that?

Since I know the switch logic now, I know the functionality of the original diagram that you had posted. If we know the pickup models and makers, we know the wire color code.
Pickups are not positive or negative, but only in phase with each other or not.
Again, if you want to use different pickups with the original diagram, and you have color code info for them, we can do that.
What would you want this new design to do?

they use the same colour codes as seymour duncan Okay, then going off your first post the conversion would look like this, based on your Ibanez drawing pertaining to the bridge pickup for screw\slug pole...and going with the assumption that GFS and Seymour Duncan wiring colors are identical. Please feel free to correct me if my assumptions are wrong. | SCREW | POLE | COIL (S) | SLUG | COIL | POLE(N) | Winding/Polarity | Start | Finish | Polarity | Start | Finish | Polarity | Seymour Duncan / GFS | Green | Red | South | Black | White | North | Ibanez Humbucker | Green | White | South | Black | Red | North |
If you wanted to replicate the original design just assign the converted wiring colors accordingly. If you want to change the options then please advise what changes\tones\combinations you're looking for. There are some scary smart folks here that can advise and direct you towards what you want to accomplish. If they can help me they can help you.
