Hi guys, I've had a quick look for an answer for this on the forum, but to no avail- so here goes...
'Quoting' a section of a previous post seems like a really handy thing, especially when asking a question. And everyone can do it in a cool little box, so it looks like a quote. Except me.
I clicked the quote button, deleted the bits of the the post I didn't want to appear, and then typed my reply into the same box, resulting in a copy and paste type result.
Now, I could keep trying stuff, and probably getting it wrong, and letting on what a fool I really am, but if anyone wouldn't mind giving me a rundown of how to go about it, I can at least pretend to be one of the cool kids.
Or if it says how to do it somewhere, just point me in the right direction! Any help will do!
All the best, Andy

All the best, Andy You mean like that? ;D My guess is that you got overzealous when deleting things. Notice that above, I left all the verbage about who and when. This next quote, I'll delete it all, like so: It worked because I didn't take out the end bracket - ]. Removing that, accidentally of course, will abort your quoting attempt....... looks sorta ugly, ya know? In short, be careful in what you delete, and all should go well. One more thing to consider though......... When quoting, the Forum's Software (ProBoards) thinks it's funny to make the text as small as possible. I'm on the support forums for board owners, and I can tell you, the guys who write this stuff are on top of just about everything. However.......... they seem to have relegated this issue to the furthest back burner they could find. They don't even acknowledge the requests that have been lodged by other board owners. Therefore........ It behooves all message quoters to think of those members with poorer eyesight, and to simply get in the habit of using the Size=2 button to enlarge the quoted text to normal proportions. That would be the A with a vertical double arrow, the second-from-right button in the upper row, just above the text entry field. Simply highlight all the text between the quote/end-quote tags, and hit the button. PRESTO!, all of the highlighted text will now be legible to us mere mortals, the ones who no longer have 20 year-old eyesight. Thanks for everyone's consideration in this. HTH sumgai

My guess is that you got overzealous when deleting things. You were clearly absolutely right. Many Thanks!
