Oh, but there's another side to this coin........... DD842 noticed some time ago that he could no longer view the "Top Posters" rankings on the Members page. Turns out that when the roster goes over 1000 folks, that particular feature becomes over-stressed, and stops working. I too find this to be a "nice to have" feature, so I trimmed out about 80 names who had never posted, putting us down to something like 946 active members. But I'm loathe to start dropping members who have posted at least once. If you ever see a post by "Guest", it's because the member is no longer on the list, he (or she) has departed. The kicker is, what if you read that post, and wanna know more? What if you wanna PM that poster/former member, and wanna ask questions? Kinda hard, if their profile is gone, ain't it? Hence, they stay, even if they've not made a post since Day One. (And there are a couple of those!) So as we go over the magic limit, there's about to be one less feature available to the membership. And since I'm not the guy who started this thing, the official ProBoards software authors are not exactly falling all over themselves to alleviate any of my perceived problems, such as this one. Mixed blessing, to be sure. sumgai

M. Sumgai spoke "If you ever see a post by "Guest", it's because the member is no longer on the list, he (or she) has departed. The kicker is, what if you read that post, and wanna know more? What if you wanna PM that poster/former member, and wanna ask questions? Kinda hard, if their profile is gone, ain't it? Hence, they stay, even if they've not made a post since Day One. (And there are a couple of those!)"
I have wondering if maybe there is some ways or the other to take the contents of each post of what the expired guest has been said, and, how you say?, go in and edit the posting immediately preceding it, adding a notation such as "EDIT: the following text was not made by (e.g. sumgai). It was made by a member who has since been deleted and, in the interest of continuity of this thread, the contents of the deleted post have been inserted here by Admin ", followed by the contents of the deleted post. This would be really time-consuming though ...
... or however is English would be saying of my suggestion - please excuse my musings.
I supposes that an expired member who has not been made visible in some time is not much likely to be retrieving PM - unless M.Sumgai meant contact via "regular email". Okay, I go now before my belle is seeing me playing on computer screen.
