Just checkin' in from my Lenten Hiatus. Got caught up on some things during the outage:
Fender JP-90 Bass: Replaced microphonic bridge J pup (actually a neck pup (1/8 narrower) placed in the bridge position) with a Wilkinson I got on ebay (actually a set, but I only replaced the J pup as the P pup is perfect). Replaced the tone control, star grounded and shielded it. Verryyyy happy with the results.
Got a Bass amp, a Peavey Max 112 via a local music shop via some trade-ins and a gift card from the Mrs. I traded my old Crate BX-15 and Fender dyna-touch 150 practice amps.
Cortez Tele: Had installed GFS modern/vintage pups (as some may recall) a few years back (w/ SC/HB push-pull switch), output still a little weak on the high E string, did the high bypass circuit per the original Gnuts site. Gave it what it was missing on the neck pup (in both SC and HB mode). Bridge pup problem was similar but was related to placement (seems Tele bridge specs are not so standard). I'm going to (eventually) redrill the bridge pup mounting plate to move it under the high E better).
Putting a new AC socket/cord on the old Knight tube P.A. going to craiglist it (along with it's 2x12 cab)> I had done the deathcap removal/3-prong mod years ago, but soldered it and ran it out with a cord bushing. This will make it more modular. It's a great combo, but they're both boat anchors, and too big to have out all the time. Time for it to go.

Ux- Good to hear from you, been a while! Unless that Cortez bridge is waaay off, I'm thinking you're going to have trouble just redrilling it as the new holes probably won't be more than the width of a hole away from the old ones. Might be easier just to try to find a plate that lines up better, the Tele bridges aren't that expensive. I have noticed that the "vintage" style 3-saddle ones have a different string spacing than the 6 saddle ones, but that may also reflect a difference between Fender spec and import specs.

Funny thing is, both the pups (Modern Vintage) and bridge are from Guitar Fetish, you'd think they'd line up better. Honestly, I think I could probably move the pup over 1/8 inch, which is enough space to redrill and still be able to hit the low E alright. It's really minor to be honest, it's not like I'm gigging or anything. I have some saddles from another bridge that are offset just about the right amount to correct the problem, but they are not the round Tele style (but they would work). I may try that first (trying to work with what I have, as I really have too much already).

heh.... I just noticed that in GF's own picture, the spacing is off on the high E: duh! You're right ... Wow! That whole thing must have been set up by Sarah Palin. The strings are on top of the height adjustment screw of some of the saddles, and not on others ... and as you follow the strings up towards the neck you can see that some of them seem to headed off on their own little bridge to nowhere. Kyle,
Don't look now, but you are setting yourself up for an attack by another member here, the fella we affectionately call the French Flake, aka stratotoolie. Just a word to the wise, eh?

Not really. There's just a bit of parallax aboot. What's noticeable is the uneven string spacing on the saddles. I guess that if one actually tightens the strings to proper tension, things work out better. It's like the food in food ads; while it looks really good, you can't actually eat it. BTW, what do they call Chinese food in China? . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . "Food."
