..........what if there weren't any hypothesis? A friend posed this question to a myself and another, and was then horrified when the two of us spent about 15 minutes discussing it... Eventually, we came to the conclusion that a world with no hypothetical situations would not involve free will... ...hypothetically speaking, that is

ChrisK Shouldn't you be using the plural of hypothesis which is hypotheses?

wolf, ChrisK Shouldn't you be using the plural of hypothesis which is hypotheses? No, because if there were no original single source, then there couldn't be any plurality, now could there? sumgai

Well sumgai, I feel I must reply to that posting. The original posting stated "what if there weren't any hypothesis?" This seems to imply: • by the use of the plural verbal form "weren't", the subject of the question must be two or more. • by the phrasing "what if", we are led to believe that there are already some pre-existing hypotheses.

It's a deep philosophical question (ok, it's not that deep but it's still philosophical).
I'd read that line in a list of favorite jokes of comedians and thought that it might awaken folks. The site has seemed to have gone into hibernation lately.
Wolf, you're correct, hypotheses are.
But then, I always lie.

ChrisKYeah, the Guitar Nuts 2 Message Board does seem to have entered into hibernation hasn't it? Darn and just when I am just a few posts away from achieving "Godhood".

wolf,
I was gonna say, but he beat me to it, that Chris always mangles the language, twisting it for his own benefit/jollies - he knows that's all it takes to drive us all up the wall! ;D
