I am wondering why the two single coil pickups ( from a 72 strat and an 82 Squire ) that I installed in a home made 147 Silvertone have seemed to become more microphonic or at least the feedback level has increased dramatically in the guitar. The pickups are mounted via two machine screws and springs to the custom pick-guard ( 3/16" lexan ). These pickups in my Strats were not as sensitive to feedback. I am hearing this mostly on the overdrive position on my amp ( Dlite - Dumble OD clone ). I can adjust the amp to help control the feedback but I wonder if the pickups have developed some additional sonic properties due to the nature of this body design, which is hollow.

If we can use an acoustic/electric as a comparison ... and I'm not certain we can, but ... if so, then your hypothesis may have some merit.
