hi guys,
ok, i'm wanting to do something odd here... a mean 90 in the neck and right next to it a singlecoil. i know i could just use a middle single coil and i know the the pickup will not be moved much but can it be done? i want the neck mean 90 on, 90 with sc, 2 sc's, bridge sc and 90 and the just the bridge 90. 1 vol, 1 tone and any other switch as needed...

well yes. the 5 way goes: (position 1) neck mean 90, (2) neck mean 90 with sc, (3) the 2 sc's, (4) bridge sc and mean 90 and then (5) just the bridge mean 90
or then again maybe a third pickup in the middle and i could achieve the same but splitting the neck half near the neck and the bridge half near the bridge with the same switching combo and humbucker full in the middle?

I thought you already were speaking of three. Are you saying a 3rd SC, mid position, plus the 90 for a total of four? And is the Mean 90 in the neck or Bridge, or both? Ok, you lost me there. I think you need to clarify your vision here a bit.

ok, there are 2 options here: 1. a neck mean 90 and single coil wired like a humbucker for the neck, (but sperately selectable.) also a mean 90 and single coil for the bridge. this is like 2 humbuckers (4 pickups) on one guitar. i would want it this way so the pickup is right next to the other not in the middle. 2. but then i thought about this 2nd after looking abit more at the guitar... neck=mean 90, middle=humbucker, bridge=mean90. if i could split the mid humbucker so the coil nearest the neck is used in the 2nd position (neck) and then also spilt the humbucker coil nearest the bridge in position 4. (bridge) it would be easier to use middle and neck or middle and bridge pickups i know... but this kinda moves the pickup closer to each neck and bridge. i don't really love the mid position sound.

Aha! Sort of like the Duncan P-rails, except using separate single coils instead of the rail(s).
"Can it be done", you asked.
Yes, it can, but I don't see any way to accomplish this with a std Strat "5-way" switch.*. You're asking to independently switch 4 coils.
One of those high-zoot superswitches or megaswitches could do the trick, though.
Your second option sort of mimics the first in terms of number of coils, the only difference is the placement of the coils. So the "do-ability" issue will be the same.
*Whenever I claim something can't be done with a std Strat switch, someone invariable comes up with a diagram to prove me wrong. This case maybe be no exception.
