I really enjoy dissing Fender for some reasons (hey, this is the U.S., we all hate a winner). Mainly because I can. It is deserved in some cases. ;D I will say, however, that Fender have done a magnificent job of marketing the multitude of models and the attraction of "vintage" better than most, if not all. While Fender revels in incremental model introduction, people apparently BUY incremental model introductions (ooooh, shiny ). Fender is a business. They make money by selling many guitars, not by selling some extra-capable guitars. Again, they've done a most excellent job of that. Their support site for wiring is the best around. While things are not up to date/have errors therein, these errors are easily discernible (to me) and easily forgiven due to the overwhelming utility of their support. While they don't make their enabling technology available as individual parts (such as the S-1 switch), they apparently do understand the business concept of selling a $1,200 guitar instead of a $12 switch. So, congratulations Fender, you do deserve the success that you've gleaned. And my appreciation.

As I said in my post on the other thread, capitalism at work . . .
The ironic thing, though,is that I remember a time in the 1970's when Fender was bought out by CBS, and the Doom of Fender was widely predicted throughout guitarland (including by yours truly- wrong again!)

ok, that wasnt much of a diss... Ill diss those guys all i want. I aint skerd.... I dont like fender. ...but i do respect them. I dont like the jumbo frets that they put on so many of their guitars, i dont like single coil pickups, im not a big fan of the tone over all. they just dont seem "awe inspireing" to me all around i favor gibson. I believe that gibson is superior in all ways to fender (if we are only talking the big two) i do respect Fender though. Many do like the tones that come out of them. Many do like the neck size and fret size. they have created a following that few (if any) can compete with. they do what they do and they are what they are. nothing more, nothing less. I wont make fun of you for buying a fender, but i will never buy one of my own. sorry guys. ... just not for me. ..i hope i dont get kicked off this site now...

...... i hope i dont get kicked off this site now... No freaking way that'll happen, not on MY watch! kuzi and I are about two generations apart (I have a grandkids almost as old as he is!), but the one place where we see eye to eye (and it sure ain't about tone! ) is that one must be able to express one's opinion without being 'skerd'. In my own opinion, which just happens to be the Official Policy of this Forum, a member's opinion is the most highly valued asset he or she can bring to the party, here at the NutzHouse. kuzi, you are encouraged to continue speaking out, as you see fit. The wise and justly famous Roman philosopher Biggus Dickus once said - Illegitimi non Corborundum! (Loose translation: don't let the bastards grind you down!) I guarantee you will always have a home here, away from your meatspace home. ;D sumgai

thank you for letting me know that i can voice my opinion. I just know that there are so many fender fans out there and many of them on this forum. i guess it was more or less my joking way of saying dont get offended. i belong to one other forum, and it has nothing to do with guitars, but it does have one thing in common. good people with good information just gettin together and hangin out. i dont frequent forums that have people that are stuck up or who make fun of others. this is a great place. ...my other forum? cigar.ambackforum.com/viewforum.php?f=143
