The list states the events listed are related to the celebration of the holiday only, so they didn't list this one.
To my mind, the most amazing thing is that bitter political enemies John Adams and Thomas Jefferson, one the author of the Declaration, and the other its leading proponent in the Continental Congress, both died on July 4, 1826, the 50th anniversary of the Declaration.

This one's my favorite:
1884- ...in Swan City, Colorado, miners blow up the town's Post Office because they are not supplied with fireworks...
Gotta love those wacky miner guys...

What, you have black powder and yer p d for not getting fireworks? The following is kind of an interesting juxtaposition - seeing as you've mentioned black powder, and this is a guitar site that is rather indebted to magnets and coils.
