Presented for your entertainment - Cowboy Shogun, performing our own take of The Pillows song, Hybrid Rainbow. We're entered in an international youtube contest, and it's judged on views... BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY, presented for your entertainment, I do declare. Melody guitar recorded through a fender frontman with a lower end instrument mic, and using a gibson les paul deluxe (my baby, but not me playing) neck stock mini humbucker. Rhythm/solo recorded with a higher end crate half stack. Dean guitar with a dimebucker... also through a lower end mic. Bass recorded on a crate bass combo amp with more instrument mics. Acoustic recorded with an MXL 991. Top of the line washburn acoustic, with the fishman electronics blended with the mic at the mixer. Drums recorded the same way, in as dead a room as could be managed. Vocals recorded in same room, but mic is unknown. Higher end mic, though. All mixed and mastered with cubase LE. I'm the guy playing the Les Paul in the vid that can't stop laughing on stage... We had 10 minutes to record that stage bit, because I had to be on a flight to New York.... long story. If we get the most views we win a trip to Japan... Just, ya know... no pressure. It's good! Watch it!

You guys are goofy. I think I like this version better than the one we were listening to a while back. Did you re-record it just for this contest thing?
I noticed that the title at the beginning of the video seems to be mis-spelled. At least, it's not the same spelling as anywhere else I've seen you type it. Probably too late to fix that.
Good luck with your trip to Japan.

Goofy works!
Yes, the lazy four-stringer doesn't like to let people proofread stuff before he uploads it.
*shrugs*
It got remixed a bit from the other one. The only reason we even got the studio time to record it was because we had to do the video.
Thank, Ash.

Sounding very good there, Syd! If that's practice, I'd like to see the show!

I'm upset that my bubble machine didn't come in until after we made that... Got a lil' bubbler from MF's Stupid deal of the day for 20 bucks. Thing works rather well, but it came in a few days too late! I wanted bubbles. But yeah, don't pay -too- much attention to the stage shots... a few times we're not playing the same thing on stage as is being played in the recording... I think this is because by the halfway point of each take, with us jumping around acting like fools on stage with no music, I had handed my LP off to a guitar stand for fear I was going to laugh so hard I dropped it... and I'm the one that -doesn't- partake. Go figure. I can't keep a stright face for the life of me. If any of you guys ever have an itch to come to an anime convention (also pronounced: freak show) you might be able to catch the show! With our vid up one day we have 500+ views. The highest vid in the contest that I saw was at 2100, but they've been up for 18 days, so we're on track to be a competitive force for that trip to Japan... Go! Click! Watch! ...for you entertainment, of course.

syd,
What're the rules on counting views? If a person watches the vid more than once, does each view count? Or does each person provide one count the first time he views, and all repeats are worthless (to the counter, man, to the counter!)?

Lol well...
The current count system is... sorta unknown. Youtube, in the endless effort to outsmart everyone that wants to boost their views, changes it pretty regularly.
They log IP addys and freeze the views from those addys, though after how many views is estimated to be between 1 and 202 from what I can see. *shrugs*
