Looks like the LED thread needs an update ...

Wow! Nice build and nice video of the steps.
... I'm still not a fan of LEDs, but I give him that a fine job of the LEDs was done there.
Thanks for sharing.

His video is too terse, he doesn't show anything about how the LEDs are switched on and off for each fret (as seen in his demo). I've looked around for a website for this kid, but I don't seem to be getting anything..... anyone got a clue?
BTW, there's another video in the Related column, it shows a fretboad with yellow/orange blaze marks, and not all in the standard positions. Listening to that demo is painful, to say the least, but the fretboard is just different enough to be cool.

He he he ... I should mention that I watched the video with the sound off, at least until he started playing.
In fairness to the kid, at that point the sound quality of the recording must have been bad or something ... there was nothing very impressive about the playing or the sounds coming from the guitar. I suspect it may get better up close and personal?
Nevertheless, the video summarized (tersely, agreed) the progress, moreso than the steps (or perhaps I should say instructions?), and I liked the features that were built into the guitar - and I even like the way he did the LEDs (which I still consider a pretty lame idea).
So, my hat's off to him.

Theres a brief view early on of wires in the neck. What I think happens is that in the LEDs can be switched so that their route to ground goes through the frets, which only gets completed when you press down a string, which has a connection to the bridge and so to ground.
Next job: programmable LEDs with ínterface to 'Guitar Hero'
