I decided to go for the white Les Paul copy today. The store that offered it has an online order policy, but I talked to them and I could try out the guitars and purchase them on the spot if I wanted to.
They were in Richmond Hill, and I was in Etobicoke. That means We were far. Especially if you took the bus. I took the bus. The 160 had a cut off time and did not come when I got to the stop. I called the owners and they drove and picked me up from the stop!
Getting to their basement studio, they showed their hospitality offering me a beer. I respectfully declined. I played the guitar and compared it side by side to the owner's own Studio Les Paul. The sound was barely indistinguishable from the Studio. I believe it was the pickups and not the body that contributed to that.
The guitar is 442 on their website. We agreed on 376 with taxes. I only had 360 with 17 dollars stuck on my account (multiples of 20) and strapped for cash. They sold the guitar for 340. They were even honest enough to tell me that the guitars they bought in bulk averaged out to about 100 dollars less than what I payed. I didn't care. Then they gave me a ride home.
I didn't know it could be this good. You can never have this at Long and Mcquade or Guitar Centre.
