.. Since the last poll has a few "bugs", so I think it's good to start a new one, plus adding a thread like back then in the GN1 for everyone to post whatever they say about their guitar(s) -- pics, reviews, whatever are welcome !

[repost from original thread]
Looks like I'm still the only Tele guy here. While I have to admit the Strat style guitar is a great design I think Leo got it right the first time. A Tele in the mid posistion is just perfect, and bridge mode with all that metal around it, has THE tone. IMHO.
However 1 of the 2 Teles is a Nashvile (3 pup) model, which has the 2/4 Strat positions, kind of best of both worlds. So I guess I'm a little bit in both camps really.

'little ole me' ? that sounds like too much .. Well, I just think that it would be good to accomodate everyone's likings inside . (hey, there ARE relics and uniquities out there !) ;D "There's one in every crowd" -- Jon Bon Jovi

Wow, I'm the first person to vote for the Les Paul / SG type. I've got an SG Standard. If nothing else, Gibosn makes one Hell of a rock solid guitar. I can safely say it will outlive me.

What's a relic? My two electrics are a '64 DuoSonic and a '68 Guild Starfire II.

What's a relic? My two electrics are a '64 DuoSonic and a '68 Guild Starfire II. A relic is hwere they intentinally beat up a new guitar to make it look old, to simulate years of hard playing. I think it's knida dumb, a person should "relic" their own guitars over the years from actual playing... I like 335s and LPs equaly, so I'm not going to vote. I would be equally happy playing either one at any time.

Newt: 60s Duo-Sonic and Starfire? i'd call 'em "unique/relic." whatever you call 'em, i like yr style! i'd gladly trade ya for a set of BRAND NEW strings. i'll throw in a guitar strap and we'll call it even! ;D

AH, it appears that I misinterpretted it then I've been on the lookout for a nice Kay/Silvertone/Harmony archtop for awhile now. I think they make great slide guitars, but it's hard to find one in semi-good condition that's not overpriced(I'm mainly talking about EvilBay) Sucks when people realize what they've got on their hands and then start asking too high of a price for it. I ain't paying over $100 for an old, dusty, poorly made guitar LOL

To all, well, it's just that ProBoards only allow max. 8 pieces to poll. So basically I just put the "major types" in and the rest goes to "unique/relic/other".
"Acoustic electrics" should go to "acoustics". (since it's an acoustic by its nature)
"Archtops" should go to "other" along with "unique/relic"
The "relic" I mean is exactly as Guya said.
okay, looking forward for future posts ..

trey, i'd recommend staying away from KAY. all of em that i've played have been absolute dreck. unplayable. SILVERTONE/DANOS are pretty good for what they are. i've not played a HARMONY, but apparently they're respected amongst archtop players. but that is a nice way of making use of a bad guitar: worn frets? bowed neck? high action? that's a perfect SLIDE GUITAR!

D*mnnnnnn.... Hard question. I've got the superstrats: Aria pro II prototype, Ibanez ex 1700, the Paul copies: '72 Penco goldtop, '78 Electra mpc x350, the others: '84 Roland G707, '80 Rhapsoby bc rich copy, so how can I chose? I guess it'll have to be the superstrats. When I just want to play for my own amusement, I pick the aria or ibanez. Sometimes. Maybe. I don't know! I love all my japanese children equally!! ;D

Unplayable for slide?!?!?! That must be one HORRID guitar!! Problem with the archtop is the fact that they are becoming coveted by both slide players and collectors, and we all know what they means, sky rocketting prices I simply resfuse to pay more than $100 for a guitar that was a poorly built 50 years ago... I changed my mind and voted for semi-hollows, I could live without my LPs but will always own a 335. Simply the ebst guitar design, ever IMHO
