Ran across this webpage describing Jerry Garcia's "Tiger" guitar, by Doug Irwin: www.dozin.com/jers/guitars/tiger/info.htmlI thought the electronics were pretty interesting. He used a unity-gain preamp to buffer the signal, and then had an onboard effects loop using a separate TRS jack out to a "Y" box, and then back into the guitar via the same TRS cable. This enabled him to have the effects "see" the full output of the pickups, and the guitars volume and tone controls then controlled the effects. Pretty slick, IMO.

Now if only they'd had those self-tuning guitars back in the day, the Dead might have been an enjoyable listening experience...

But there wouldn't have been that LONG dramatic pause at the beginning of the show while the band tuned played with the tuning keys.

Well, I thought the onboard effects loop was nutz-worthy, anyway.

Oh yes! Using my primative knowledge, full tone --> tone machine = ;D half tone --> tone machine = still, too complicated for this walnut sized brain...
