Hi friends
Just though Id let you know that in a day or twos time, I’m likely to be offline for a while.
The reason is an exciting move of properties. Currently, we have been living in a nice normal kind of house near the coast south of Sydney, but we are selling up to move slightly inland, to an acreage where we will be running horses. The land is beautiful; slightly rolling, mostly cleared but with some nice shade trees over it, some native bush, a couple or small dams and a creek in a rocky gorge at one side.
But the house is a disaster zone (but with potential!). A small timber cottage, nicely built but with no attention at all in about 50 years. It will scrub up good, with much work. Things like an indoor wc are definitely near the top of my wifes wish list! (after the fencing for her horses)
Anyway, I’m not confident of getting the wiring for a phone/internet connection set up as seamlessly as I might wish, so If in a day or two's time, I stop calling in for a few days – no need to send out a search party.
Cheers
John

Well, good luck with the move. We did the rustic (read as 100+ year old money pit) thing in the country, too.
Now you can turn it up to 11 all the time...which is also a good way to sack out the horses, too...
So, are they Brumbey's, or horses with a Press Agent?
Happy Trails
Cynical One
PS: I admire your optimism...getting the phone lines in and a WC before the fencing... I finished my fences in the dark with a flashlight (torch) between my teeth...

thanks Cyn1 - and I thought of you. Our horses are welsh cobs - generally they grow to about 14 hands, currently just two adjisted elswhere until we are in. But once we are set up, well be open for others to keep theirs with us too, and ride on an arena or trails that we will build.

Great, just what we needed, another stall mucker-outer! ;D
Good luck, John! Hope you don't lose too much weight from working too hard at becoming a rancher/farmer!
We'll keep the light on for ya!

Good luck john...my bass player keeps horses down here in nyora in a similar sounding property...them horses can get expensive. When I commented that his wife was quite understanding to allow him to buy a $3,500 double bass he answered, well...she jus bought a $10K horse! And, $30K+ for the arena...LOL!
But seriously, I made the "sea change" two years ago and now live on Phillip Island...best thing I could have done...wireless internet the only practical solution btw!
Good luck...that's quite an adventure...

Good luck with the move. Us electronics newbs will miss you for the meantime. Remember, it's all good whispering to horses, but a screaming guitar solo works even better.

Good fortune with your move! Having lots of room is a Godsend. The beauty of a fixer-upper is that you can be a Nut with your own house too! From what I know about you on this forum, I can only imagine the studio... Don't stay away for too long, though! I found this whilst surfing, and feel it kind of fits...enjoy!

Good luck to ya in the move sir. I hope to see you back here ASAP. My mother in law owns a 150 year old money pit home w/ horses. They're a great time until winter comes, which I don't believe you need to be too concerned about....

...hmmm... Did the acreage-with-horses bit 20-odd years ago in a previous life... ....and yes, winter was the pits in the Adelaide Hills..
...thankfully all that is over now and I do walks along the sand at West Beach instead.
...but all the best to you JH...I reckon you'll have fun! ...and find out about the wireless connection...I reckon that's probably a goer.. ...also interesting stuff on the news tonight about the CSIRO wireless trial in Tassie...it was on the SBS news I think....
All the best wishes from down here in South Oz!

The way I look at it, I love horses, and I love isolation.
Good luck with the home. We can't wait to see you again.

Hope you'll be able to 'switch-off' your head a bit more out there... ...and as previously requested, a couple of pics 'out my back door' from you would go down nicely... -John

Wow John, that was seamless!! I was figuring you would be gone for a few weeks, having to get everything sorted out and such, but here you are! Good to hear you are all settled in overlooking your new awesome yard...have to fight off the jealousy now. Glad you weren't gone long!

A verandah, no less . . . You have arrived! I have to make do with a deck, which currently sits under about 2 feet of snow.
