A very happy 1/1/11 to all at GN2! This is how it looks at our place: Practical folk will ignore the nice outlook with pleasant trees and note the need for much fencing and a large machine to cut the grass. Lots to do this year! Anyone else got pix of NY where you are? John

I'll try to post a photo when I get home. We've got about a foot and a half of snow. The temperature here shouldn't get above freezing for a couple of months but it rained (real liquid rain) all day yesterday and all night. Then the temp dropped. It was 14F at about noon. Both of my kids and I fell on the skating rink we call a driveway!

I should have took a picture, but I had a half inch of rain over my entire car this morning. I had to take a chisel to the doors to get the ice off enough to open it up to turn the car on. My wheels were frozen to the concrete, so that was worrysome trying to get out of my driveway.

Very nice looking place, John.
And you're right...I see no fences, a seriously overgrown pasture, weeds encroaching on the pasture, the job of walking the pasture after it's cut looking for holes and rocks, no available water for the horses...ain't horse people a pain in the butt...
All that aside, once all the grunt work is done you're going to have a very nice place to ride and crank to 11 anytime the feeling strikes.
And most of our snow melted in the rains that Ash just mentioned. But we're going down to the teens tonight, the wind picks up and by tomorrow it should be the Icecapades out there.
Need a horse trainer?
Happy Trails

Still afternoon here in NW WA. Crystal clear and cold, cold. Too bad you cant see how beautiful and pink Mt Baker looks: My son just took off with his cousin, so, looks like the Mrs. and I have a quiet evening of watching a movie and going to bed early!

Great place John! I prefer the optimist's approach & didn't see a lack of fencing or nothin'. Looks like peace to me- hope you enjoy it. Here's my little corner of the world. (Hemet, CA.) We've had alot of rain & even some flooding the last few days, but today is nice. Out of respect for my fellow Nutz I won't complain about the brutal cold. ;D Peace & happiness in the New Year, guys....... -lpf3

This isn't from today...it's a couple of weeks old, but here's the front of the ranch. If you ever catch a story on the news about some guy from WI beating the Hell a snowplow driver...it'll probably be me. I was digging out the end of the driveway...for the second time that day...after Blinky the six toed snow plow driver buried me in. Again, John, you need a horse trainer...stall mucker...fence installer? This time of year I come real cheap... Happy New Year, everybody Cynical One

Even though JFrank lives just an hour north of me, I've got a couple of inches of snow on the ground, and haven't seen the temp go above the melting point for more than a week. I hear tell that Oz has so much land flooded right now, the total area under water is greater than a couple of our smaller states!! I think I'll stick with the snow, thanks anyways! ;D As an aside for c1..... out here, Oak-liness is considered right up there next to God-liness. IOW, if you were to even mention the words 'burn' and 'oak' in the same sentence, you'd be shot, drawn-and-quartered, and then hung for good measure. Seems to me that someone excelled in their MarketingSpeak class, and it just so happened that they have/had a stand of oaks that could be had..... for the right price. I think the rest of that story is obvious. Otherwise, I've got some maple bucked and split..... Nah, seriously, it was a diseased tree that had to come down, and only about half of the outer area was good enough to cut up - the heartwood was all eaten away, sad to say. In other exciting news...... say, speaking of new...... Happy New Year to all of you Nutz out there! sumgai

Wow I'm almost ashamed to post a photo of my house: As you can see, it is quite the "fixer-upper" and it's going to require a lot of work before it looks acceptable.

Happy 2011 to all the Nutz! 52°F here, and the 2 feet of snow we had melted over the past few days. So my morning has consisted of picking up a month's worth of accumulated dog doo, since I couldn't get to it through the snow. They say whatever you do on New Year's Day is how you'll spend the rest of the year, so I anticipate deep doo-doo for some time to come . . . BTW, wolf, if that's your house, I've been to see it. Took the tour and everything! It also cost me a Canon SLR- when I was leaning over the bridge to get a shot, my camera strap broke. It bounced 3 times before hitting the creek. Your last name wouldn't be "Kaufmann", now would it? ;D ;D

Wolf - your house is very similar to my house.
In that, when you flush the toilet, the same thing happens.
FLW was quite a good architect, but he didn't know diddly-squat about domestic sanitation.

Here's our side yard. I tried to get it at 1:11 am, but my wife wouldn't find me her camera. Tried to get it at 1:11 pm, but I was asleep. This is about 1:30... ...and about 12F

Okay, here's a photo of my other house: Okay, before anyone mentions it, yes, this was taken around Christmas Arbor Day er ... Halloween We had a huge snowstorm here (Boston) and obviously this wasn't taken too recently. Perhaps tomorrow I can get a photo of the house with the 1.5 feet of snow.
