is it effectively possibe to use a push pull pot as a 6 lug DPDT phase switch, instead of a toggle DPDT switch? and which switch position is which? can this be done with single coil pups instead of humbuckers? if i did a double barrel strat mod could i have phase out of phase switching by wiring the selectors to the DPDT switch, so all 3 SingleCoils could go in or out of phase instead of picking only 2 and being stuck with only 2?

and how would i wire a toggle phase switch in a strat with a standard 8 lug 5way blade(3 s.c.'s 5way blade, M.volume, M.tone, DPDT mini 6 lug toggle, 1/4 mono jack)?

ok, well out of phase by definition is 2 or 3 pups on. So you might have N+M and then a switch to throw the N oop. Right? (Now, you could put 2 coils of an HB oop with each other, too). So, you really only need two phase switches to get all the oop possibilities, no matter the other switching combos. You could do a phase switch on both neck and mid pups, and that would cover all the combos. Oh, I see now that the 2Xbarrel has (N)*B, so if you do phase switches, that position becomes redundant, maybe you could put N*M there instead. (parenthesis means this coil is oop, + means parallel, * means series) you can see how the switch works in this diag: (upper switch, 6 lugs, dpdt, with the cross wiring) Its really a module, all on its own, it can be put into any other scheme. So yes, you could put it on a p/p and whether oop is pulled or pushed is easily changed, just switch 2 wires.

ok but lets say its a standard strat, and i replace the tone 1 pot with a push pull wired as both a tone & a phase switch. since B*N isn't a selector option anywhere on the guitar would it be acting as a coil add as well as the phase or will a separate switch be needed for B*N as well?

or could i just use 2 phase switches 1 for bridge & the other for neck and a third as a neck add?

the way i was invisioning it was (3 SingleCoils, standard 5way blade, p/p vol/solo switch, p/p M.tone/b&n coil phase, DP6T 2xbarrel switch w/bypass @ pos, #1.) so i'll have either stock 5 or 25 combo sounds will this still be redundant?

Anything you can do with a DPDT toggle switch can be done with a P/P pot
A phase switch, for one pickup, uses both poles of a DPDT. So you can't put 2 pickups out of phase with one DPDT (unless you wire the signals of both together at the switch, not what you want to do if you want to be able to switch those pickups separately later.)
The (B) * N setting (Br in series OOP w/ neck) will be the most useful OOP setting, that's why that one was included on the Superswitch in the double barrel scheme. That would be on your rotary if you wired it in accordance with the double-barrel scheme.
So, if you leave that as is and use a P/P to phase the middle pickup, you'd effectively have the OOP sounds covered, except for (B) + N which will be a lower output than the series OOP setting.
The downside is that you then have OOP settings in two different places, which may make it less intuitive to switch- but this guitar is already pretty "switchy" so I wouldn't worry too much about that.
Or, as jfrank suggested, put N * M on the rotary instead, and either:
1) Use 1 phase switch on either the bridge or neck pickup to give you most of the OOP sounds, or
2) Use 2 phase switches, one on the middle and the other on either the neck or bridge, to get all the OOP sounds.

i'm starting to understand the concept a little more now. what i'll try instead is- solo/M.vol, B&N oop/M.tone, neck add/P.O.D. (passive overdrive.) not the band...

ok final strat draft volume/solo, m.tone/oop, DP6T pup select. pos1, bridge pos2, middle pos3, neck pos4, bridge middle pos5, middle neck pos6, bridge neck i'll use the 5way as a varitone (why let a perfectly good switch go to waste)

is there a way to make a passive pedal that will put the entire guitar in or out of phase?

Sure. An inverting buffer would flip the entire output from the guitar. (Edit - sorry, thats not passive. You can do it passively, but it would be noisy!). Wouldn't sound any different, but it might force a guitar in the throes of string feedback (in response to a nearby amplifier) to break over to a harmonic.
The thing you seem to be missing is that the OoP sound comes from the relative phase of various frequencies as transduced by two (or more) pickups. That is, flipping the phase of one pickup by itself makes no difference aside from the feedback situation, or if you're one of those hifi snobs who truly believes he can tell the difference of whether the speaker cone moves in or out on the initial attack.
It's only when we combine two or more pickups that phase cancellation causes the comb-filter effect.

ok let get active i figured i'd ask about it passively 1st. ya can't always tell if theres an easier way unless you ask.
