We've had the run of young virtuoso guitarists videos here...almost down to the embryonic state... But what about the other end of the spectrum? While burning up time I'll never get back on YouTube I stumbled across Grandma Mary. For 73 years old I was damn impressed. This is the kind of thing that gives me the motivation to practice. In 19 more years, if I'm still breathing, I might be able to get through a whole song and not drop my pick... For giggles I followed the link to her website at [a href=" www.grandmamaryrocks.com/music.html"] www.grandmamaryrocks.com/music.html[/a] and checked out some of the other covers she did. They're only a minute long, but Grandma Mary don't sound bad at all...in fact she sounded pretty damn good. Those 15 year olds may be faster, but they can't rip off a quick rendition of Black Magic Woman while waiting for their cookies to bake... This was too cool not to pass along. Tired of videos of young guitarists? Actually no. I've found a few vocal and acoustic players that I enjoy watching and listening to as much as I enjoy commercial artists. I wouldn't be surprised if they eventually make the bigs. But Grandma is way cool. There's a pic of the LPDC she's playing in the second video, on her site. It looks like it's been signed by Carlos.
