Hello first post here. Thought I would pass on a very effective little mod I made to my Strat enabling the selection of full on volume or a lower volume at the flick of a switch.
I just added a mini SPDT switch and connected it between the wiper of the volume pot and the signal end of the pot. Now I can set the volume level to any position and switch between that volume and full volume by just closing the switch.
Works a treat

Hi and welcome to GN2.
Thankyou for offering your idea. Sometimes the simplest ideas are the best and a way to switch between volume levels is very handy, on a guitar with one volume pot..
With your switch, are you just using two of its lugs to short out the centre and hot connections of the pot? If so, what happens if you set a very low volume level on the pot?
A better way to use that switch might be to connect those volume pot lugs the outer lugs of your switch, and move the output to the jack to the centre pole connection on the switch.
Also, this kind of idea is best posted in our guitar wiring section. I expect a kindly admin will move it shortly.
cheers
John

John, He's got a SPDT, so I first assumed that he's wired it the way you describe as "better". Had he said 'SPST', I too would've thought 'shorting the volume pot'.
sranauta, Hi, and to the NutzHouse! As noted, the simplest ideas are almost always the best. Thanks for "re-upping" this one. ;D sumgai

Hello
isn't this mod like the "passing lane" switch on "american deluxe" ? I dunno. 'Spose it could be, though. But I'd bet good money that some players would like to have this option without having to buy a new Fender, eh? sumgai
