Marry Xmas to you all!
I am going to my home town to see how the tech has refretted my geetarz. Hopefully, i will be back with the refretted (retired to be) Aria strat and the refretted partscaster (premium axe wannabe) strat, again into tone-chasing!
Happy playing and modding!

Here, it's a blizzard. Don't get me wrong, I like blizzards, just look at my avatar . . . But (weather permitting), on Monday I'm bugging out for LA and some SoCal sunshine in Palm Springs for Xmas. Now, if I didn't want to loll in the desert in Palm Springs, my wife was willing to indulge me, and agreed to go to Lake Tahoe. Theory being, I'd go skiing while she "went to the spa and the casino". I did the math. We're going to Palm Springs . . .

I did the math. We're going to Palm Springs . . . Go to LA man, the city with 1,000,000 registered guitarists! Palm Springs sounds good too! Believe or not, here in Greece, opposite to the popular belief, in the winter you can find places colder than e.g. London or Paris, (like my home town). Temps go often below zero.

I did the math. We're going to Palm Springs . . . We used to love Palm Springs when we lived in LA. It can be 75F at city level, then go up the cable car for some freezing snowy conditions. Just don't get too annoyed at the smug SoCal weather presenters. In between touching up their air-brushed hairstyles, they will look very sincere as they tell you about all the freezing blizzards on the east coast and mid-west, and then try to supress a small smirk as they inform us, as usual; " ...but here in Southern California, it will be 70 on the beaches with light south westerlies...." Yes a perfect day yesterday and another fine 30C day over here....yesterday I got down with the seals... and lay in a perfectly warm bath... Followed by a nice rice satay watching the sunset... And thought about hippie chick I met/dated the other day and thought, no... ... I'll be staying 'home/island' this year for once, a neighbour and me will watch a DVD (thinking 'across the universe') and yack to the early hours, enjoy aircondioning and not have to travel and let the whole season wash over us... I got a new guitar and plenty of music I should be practicing (though perhaps I should mod it ...then again it's summer so, I fixed an old surfoard I picked up for $15 and perhaps should paddle about, get a bit fitter...then again, I'm suddenly single again and perhaps I should do something about that before winter sets in and the nights get chilly (there's something to send me for xmas if anyone needs some ideas) To you all, the best wishes and stay safe, be kind to others and play the guitar...it's one instrument that you have to cuddle and that is not a bad thing...pete

Certainly...got to get in the mood...a day at the beach, clean and a little salty, made a nice dinner, beautiful sunset, strum an acoustic guitar a little perhaps...we all like a bit of seduction, no?

Since we're off on vacation over the actual holiday, we did some opening of presents today. My sister gave me the new album by the singer/songwriter Beck, entitled "Song Reader". It consists of 20 new songs by him. But, I can't tell you if I like it or not, since I haven't heard any of it yet. Talk about an artist who demands a lot from his audience- Beck's new "album" is available in only a single format- as sheet music! You can't hear it unless you play it . . . So, over the weeks and months ahead, I'll surely be breaking out the guitar and trying to learn these pieces. But I find it devilishly difficult to learn a song without ever having heard it . . . The whole thing is, however, absolutely lusciously presented. In an age where the digital download doesn't even have liner notes, "Song Reader" is presented as a boxed set of the 20 songs, each of which is a separate piece of sheet music just as one would buy in a music store before the advent of recording. The illustrations are all very retro-looking and gorgeous. He even has "Gilded Age"-looking ads on the back page of each song, just as sheet music used to have, and advertising everything from shoe-button hooks to "teaser" snippets of other songs. I'm sure some folks have probably already posted YouTube vids of the tunes, so I guess in a way you can hear them- or, at least, someone's interpretation of them.

4real great pics.
Newey, i am sure there could be some sort of Optical Character Recognition (OCR) program for musical notes, that could convert the scanned image into midi. Then play it with your favorite midi player.
What does Sumgai have to say on this? I know he is prominent in those technologies.
