Dig this: From some of members of The Binary Controllers. This thread's title comes from a line written by 'Forest' in another forum, through which I followed the link to the above video. Check out other stuff by them, really quite good. His title to the video comes from a challenge issued by Roland, back in the latter part of 2010. They asked for tunes relying on synth sounds generated by any of their line of guitar-controlled synthesizer units. (GR, GM and GI gear.) Sadly, this particular fella didn't read all of the instructions - the VG-99 he used was explicitly excluded. Many entrants argued that it has a synth model built in, and it has MIDI Note-On for driving external synth modules, but Roland felt it best not to quibble over possible cheating (IOW, no guitar sounds were allowed), and just eliminated the VG-99 altogether. Too bad for him. From that, I followed several other links to a gazillion YouTube vids for this challenge. Post your favorite in this thread! ;D Oh yeah.... check out the pickups on his Strat..... sumgai

incredible...
just a quick one for you SG, since you are the ultimate roland guru here : Does VG-99 work with ordinary guitars? or they have to have this specific roland interface + special roland digital sensor-pup?

No where near as catchy, but none the less cool as Hell is this demo of a guitar with "a Fernandas Sustainer, a Full Ghost piezo Hexspander KIT and a Lace Alumitone Deathbucker Pickup"

Yes, it does have an input just for normal guitar pickups. All that you really miss out on are the Guitar COSM models, everything else the VG can do is available to the player. There's even a Guitar Out jack, allowing you to send the Normal Pickups signal straight out for processing by other stompboxes. HTH sumgai
