So I recently got this diy kit on ebay for an ibanez 7-string jem and upon inspection of the parts I found a flaw in the necks construction... and since I drive a semi for a living its been sitting at the house for over two months before I could get home to open it, so there's no way they'll accept the return so what would be the best way to salvage/fix the neck?

Does it have any installation side effects? Does this prohibit installation?

Its the other way around sadly the fret board is fine its the neck heel that's slanted. And it doesn't quite set right in the neck pocket which was routed 1/8th or more wider than needed. I can how ever still mount it as is with a bit of work ussing the high e string and the low B string to get proper alignment and the extended 24th fret would mask it but my concern there is strength and stability would that gap being there affect this at all?
Although id imagine once proper alignment is determined and achieved I could possibly glue in some shims within the neck pocket itsself to fill the gap.

I don't think its a case of personal taste, which is covered by the return period. We are talking about serious flaw. You should send it back, explain the delay, and ask for a replacement.

so this kit has been sitting around the house ever since I got it. When I contacted the seller they were like oh well what ever. But here recently I've decided its time to finally do something with it since I now have a $1500 a run paycheck, so what I'll be doing is working with the flaws in the neck to cut out a new body for it that wouldn't be negatively affected under stress by the gaps left by the flaws on the original body and neck. Plus I'm also planning on throwing out the el cheapo Floyd rose it came with and using a newer production run of the kahlar 7-string floating tremolo. Not sure exactly when it'll be complete but I'll be sure to keep the progress updated as I go.

7-stringers is the thing! keep us posted. I barely play my 6-strings any more.
