An open note to all members:
We've had a busy last few months hereabouts. Thanks to the return of RandomHero, thus our ability to reorg the staff and update the Forum, we've added a load of new features, including new ways to upload content. We've also done a bit of redecorating.
The vast majority of new things have been possible only through the hard work of ReTrEaD and YogiB, who have put in the time "under the hood" to add the new features and make the changes you now see. Big props to those two.
But, we'd like your feedback. Is the new organization more logical? Is navigation easier? What do you like, and what don't you like? Other things you'd like to see added?
Post your thoughts here, for the more long-winded among y'all. For the more short-winded, please respond to the poll below above:

But, we'd like your feedback. Is the new organization more logical? Is navigation easier? What do you like, and what don't you like? Other things you'd like to see added? I believe some replies to that part probably would be even more valuable than votes in the poll. Particularly the last item (things one might like to see added). We're finding more and more functions possible than we were aware of in the past. Ideas which were previously deemed crazy and just not possible, are now within our grasp. That's not to say the average GuitarNut couldn't imagine something we can't do. But there are certainly things not yet imagined that we can do.

OK! here is something that I would find very useful, but I havent seen on any forum:
A 'Draft' feature so I can start typing away at a stupendously complicated post, maybe for a few minutes on my way to work, and 'save it until later before completing it, checking it again and then posting it. Would that be possible?

Would that be possible? It's possible. Sort of, anyway. *leaves thread to get screenshot of profile settings* If you edit your profile (settings tab) and select yes for 'Enable Drafts' . . . . . . a draft will automatically be made whenever you begin creating or editing a post. If you navigate away from the posting page then return to the same thread and hit 'reply' you'll get a pop up titled 'Load Draft'. . . If you click the 'Yes' box, the contents of the draft will be placed in the editor window. Would I trust this for a stupendously complicated post? I definitely would NOT. I think a far safer method would be to switch to BBCode on the editor, select all, and copy the contents of the editor window. Then paste that to a .txt file and save it. That way you can be 100% certain your draft won't evaporate. But I DO have drafts enabled on my profile settings and it HAS saved my bacon more times than I can count when I've accidentally closed a tab containing a post under construction. I strongly recommend all users take advantage of this function as a precaution.

RT-
That is useful. For years, I have been using MS Notepad (and saving as a txt file) to do drafts of posts, including .img tags, etc., and then just copy/paste into a post. As you noted, probably safer to do so rather than rely on the draft feature.

Just learned about the saving drafts setting by coming to this thread to make a suggestion. That's definitely a net win!
My suggestion: I don't often start threads on GN2, but when I do, I spend 5-30 minutes searching for the button that allows users to start new threads. I'm not the best observer and could be missing the obvious, but even with my male attention disorder, it seems like that button could, and more to the point, should be more conspicuous. Is that fair?

dylanhunt, the new thread button is in the exact same place as the reply button. If you are in a subforum, like the coffee shop, look to the direct right of “coffee shop” and you’ll see the create thread button. If you are reading a thread, then that button will be transformed into the reply button. (Bc you cannot create a new thread inside of someone else’s thread.) When you understand how this works, it becomes crystal clear… at least on iPhone. EDIT: It’s surely possible to create a master new thread button, if proboards allows, and have it open a simple form with a bunch of radio buttons allowing a new thread to be created in whatever subforum is selected. But, sadly, then you’d have to find a nice place to hold that always-on-gn2-forum “new thread…” button.
