(completed 21 December 2018) This guitar started life as this, a Disney Hannanh Montana electric guitar (click to view). You might think by the name that it's a toy, but it isn't. It's made by Washburn. 3/4 scale. I believe the body shape is Wasburn's 'Idol' series, which may be Supro inspired. I acquired it for about £10. My original intention was to use this it as a donor for a sitar-guitar project, but plans changed when I designated a different donor guitar for that purpose. So instead I went for standard electric but with extra, piezo functionality. Plus it has an electrified 'percussion pad' behind the bridge. Below are photos of the final thing. Summary and work undertaken:- guitar completely gutted, and sanded down.
- refinished. repainted body.
- cavity routing
- all new hardware and parts throughout.
- electrified 'percussion pad'.
- all new wiring.
- hybrid magnetic/piezo guitar. separate circuits
- dual outputs.
- new bridge pickup, with a special five-sound switch.
- momentary kill switch push button.
- three piezo discs located in different places (including one in neck pocket), with individual on/off rocker switches for 7 switching permutations.
