Hey!
It's my first time to experiment with a Precision Jazz Bass style.
I noticed that the volume of the P is much louder than the J. Upon checking the pickup values, the P has 14k DCR and 9H Ls. The J has 6k DCR and 3HLs. Which makes it clear why the P is much louder.
Is this always the case? Or can I do something to get a balanced volume from both pickups?
Also, I'm noticing that when both pickups are at volume 10, I can hear some tone loss esp on the bass end. I love it when the P at 10 but as soon as I blend the J, I can head tone drop and loss.
Is this normal for PJ bass style?
What's your suggestions?
Thank you!

in order to balance the sound one often has to lower the p pickup and raise the j pickup. this is normal both pickups full on means that they're loading each other down i prefer a blend pot for my 2 pickup basses. i have a particularly mid-focused p pickup (Duncan spb-4) and comparatively full range bridge pickup (bridge humbucker from blacktop p bass... basically two low dcr j pickups in one enclosure) so right on the middle is generally where i keep it for a more traditional bass sound.... when I've got the bassy fuzz for heavier music i favor the p more because it cuts through oh so nicely
