For those who are interested In pickups I thought I would give you a close up and any info folks might like .
i also have a few questions also
I’ve had good pickups before but never paid any attention .
this time I realise how fragile looking those two copper end wires look and am a bit cautious of damaging the pickup when I install it
it looks like one of the wires has possibly lifted up slightly from being held down flat or stuck down . Not sure if they paint or put some sort of coating or glue on top , but I can see on the right side how it rises up a little . Is this a big deal ? It doesn’t really bother me unless it makes it potentially easy to damage
also speaking of potential damage , wouldn’t the pickup cover rub and bite into these fragile exposed wires ? It looks like the cover may actually be a little bit short so that it doesn’t actually go near the wires
maybe if I took the two screws and pieces of rubber off , then I could see what’s going on ? Is it safe to pull the pickup cover completely off if I’m careful or is it best not too ?
thanks
p.s it’s a Alnico 2 , flat pole pieces, handwound pickup made in U.K. . Approx £50 per individual pickup so it should be decent enough at that price point

I don't know anything about Bare Knuckle pickups, but the covers on Strat pickups are designed to come off, people replace them all the time with different colors, or use them without the covers installed at all. I wouldn't worry unduly. The cover lifting a bit at one side may just be that the screw on the opposite side is turned down more.
